This Date in History - The Odd Couple

It was just like a couple of firefighters I knew.

Firefighter Greg D. (now B/C) was Felix, and Firefighter Pete P (now Retired) was Oscar. I think the names could have been Greg and Pete instead of Felix and Oscar in the Odd Couple Show.

But the ODD Couple really was a Great Show and good for a few laughs. I'm sorry, but I just don't find the shows of today as funny and entertaining.

On this day in 1789, Ben Franklin wrote:"Nothing . . . certain but death & taxes"

And one day somebody made the quote longer. I think it might have been Dennis Smith.

"Nothing . . . certain but death, taxes, and when you pull that red box, Firemen show up."

Well taxes are certainly going to be the death of me so good old Ben was right on both.

Jack Klugman and Tony Randall(R.I.P.). That was a great show! They just don't make 'em like that anymore.

I believe they still show episodes from time to time on the retro TV station MeTV.
