Fireground Commentary: Ignore the photographers

Chief Wylie examines the recent incident involving a paramedic captain and a video recording bystander and why in most cases it's best to ignore the photo-taking public.

Great commentary, unfortunately some people don't think when handling these situations (on both sides).

I agree that the situation wasn't handled right, but I wonder if there was more to this story...

What happened before the clip started? Was the photographer going beyond the fire line and warned multiple times? Someone mentioned it looked like the photographer had a dash light in his car, did he cross the line into whacker territory? Was the person in the car one of the firefighter's family members/close friends?

Not saying those excuse it, but it might explain it

The single comment below the video is spot on. You get more flies with honey than vinegar. Yes, we didn't see what happened before hand, but the Captain could have been a little more chill. If people become a problem, get the PD involved FIRST. Don't go playing cop.

Don't be to hard on Captain Smart. He's just watched "Full Metal Jacket" too many times.
