my find yesterday in a box- an FDNY Buff badge....

I don't have a picture yet, but while looking on a box I brought back from my dad's a few years ago, I found a small leather case, about 2x2 inches. When I opened it up, I was surprised to find a badge, it is marked on the front FDNY and in the center BUFF. I have done a quick look around the internet but haven't found anything that matches this.

Tonight, I took the badge of the holder to see if there was a makers mark, there wasn't one but there WAS an engaging that says "from E227 to Bob 12/52". So, this was presented to my father in 1952- I'm wondering if this is a one-off...pretty neat on any case! And yes I will post pictures!
