I was just wonder what some other departments have for standards to become a driver?

Some requirements might include:

Total # of hours driving

Total # of hours pumping (if an engine co.)

You might have to drive to a certain amount of alarms with another driver

A final "test" with a senior company member/driver

There might be different standards for different companies within a single dept.

Hope that helps.

Our Depatment you need

5 years or more in the department.

100 hours of driver training all documented

PUMP OPERATOR

E.V.O.C.

A.V.E.T.

And a final test with a Chief driver, Chief of the department, Lt or Capt, and one or more other drivers.

You must also pump to our ladder and everyone of our engines.

minimal amount of hours, not sure how many

valid and current drivers license

pump operation training for engines

to drive engine certain amount of time driving unit

again, not totally sure on all requirements, these are just the oens i know off the top of my head.

All drivers have to take defensive driving. If you drive the engines or the truck you need EVOC, Pump ops and Aerial Ops. You need 6 months in the company or at the chiefs discretion. You have to have ample time driving and pumping along with street knowledge. Every rig has a chief driver who is responsible for testing you.
