One hell of an attack by the OFD!!!

We were dispatched and responding in one minute, got on the scene 5 minutes later and the whole thing was already darkened down. Damn good attack boys and girls, you should be proud of yourselves......that place had the ugly potential for exposure nightmares but you held it in check....outstanding!

Maybe next time ONLOCATION will charge his camera batteries! :P

Tenants homeless after match fire damages Ossining home

By ROBERT MARCHANT

THE JOURNAL NEWS

(Original Publication: January 5, 2006)

OSSINING — Fire tore through a home at 23 Broad Ave. late Tuesday night, leaving a group of tenants homeless.

"It appears to be accidental," said Det. Don Farrell of the Ossining village police. Five tenants were displaced from the building, which is owned by Herb Wagreich, according to the police report.

The blaze in the two-story home began because of careless smoking, fire officials said. About 100 firefighters responded, including personnel from Sleepy Hollow and Croton-on-Hudson. No one was injured.

The fire started on the second floor around 10 p.m., Fire Chief Mauro Santucci said.

"One of the tenants was lighting a cigarette. The match got away from him and landed in some paper," the chief said. The fire smoldered, then set the room on fire.

"The second floor was gutted, but we were able to contain it to the building. We were able to locate the fire pretty quickly and suppress it," he said.

A tenant, Oscar Cardenas, picked through the rubble of his belongings yesterday. "It's a very difficult time," he said.

The building appears to be salvageable, with most of the heavy damage confined to the upper floor, Santucci said.

Not completely true did get 4 before it Died and got some more thanks to SHFD 2311 on his, But yes thank you for rubbing it in.

I don't see ya complaining about the shots from your fire, which were excellent and one of the main reasons why it was. Don't regret that, whatever it was worth it :Sadly I most say that. Next Time,

From www.ossiningfire.com

The Ossining Fire Department was dispatched to a box 6-6 for a reported working house fire. Police Officers on scene confirmed a working fire with residents trapped on a front porch. Police Officers Carpenter, Drohan and Meudt all members of the Ossining Fire Department rescued the pair from the balcony with an extension ladder. Members of the department entered and extinguished the blaze without injury to firefighters. The blaze was contained to the one house.
