If Port Chester citizens allow this to go on without a fuss, then when things do go sour, they can blame themselves along with those politicians and chiefs.

What makes it even more interesting this time though is that once again, Port Chester, NY, has been put on the map, just like in 1974. And now people in the entire country will be watching should something go sour.

I think we're all on the same page here about departments abusing mutual aid so I won't even touch that. But this quote is what worried me the most.
Really? I had no ideas fire worked that way. Apparently if a fire occurs in one town that makes it less likely for there to be another fire elsewhere. Amazing.

Because you always say who you are speaking to, and they are speaking to 60 control at that moment so they say 60 control.

We were sitting in station 3's kitchen watching the news of the fire in Hackensack before the collapse and we could not believe that they did not know it was a truss building. We saw that is what it was and how advanced the fire was. I remember the descussion that they needed to backout and then it collapsed.
    I will never forget.
If you and your dept. did not learn the painful lessons of that day, then shame on you!
If you do not train every member in building construction and how fire effects it (and how it effects fire) you did not learn the leasons of that day.

If you do not do building inspections or at least walk throught and document hazards you did not learn the leasons of that day.

If you do not have seperate fireground and dispatch channels (and use them everytime) you did not learn the leasons of that day.

If you do not do accountability (so you know where your firefighters are operating) you did not learn the leasons of that day.

if you do not operate a command post with enough people to track resources and be able to hear all radio traffic (because the chief is trying to multi task to many jobs) you did not learn the leasons of that day.

If you do not evaluate & reevaluate conflicting condition reports you did not learn the leasons of that day.

If you exceed proper span of control you did not learn the leasons of that day.

If you do not stage tactical reserves you did not learn the leasons of that day.
In Westchester, many of these lessons were never learned or they have been forgotten.
    I will never forget.

I hope this type of inquiry is allowed on the site, if not I apologize to the moderators and please delete the post without any offense on my end.
I am inquiring to see if any EMT Bravo members may be willing to donate some high resolution photos/video of Yonkers FD crew, apparatus, etc, in action, for use in possible L628 Yonkers Firefighters advertising. Please contact me at the email below if you are able to help, and if you require reconition in the actual advertising if your photo/video is used. Our need for these should be obvious with the battle we are fighting for our livelihood here in Yonkers. L628 and its membership is grateful for any support in this area. At this time we could particularly use some photos of TL71 and E312, two companies that have been targeted as brown out companies. Thanks again!

I wish there was more room too, but with the number of trucks stored there it is impossible. Here is a panoramic view of inside the warehouse from a staircase.

I think the bottom line most of us realize is, when push comes to shove, most of us in the emergency services will go above and beyond. Some will take a backseat.
We all know who are the lines likely to step up and who are likely to walk away.

Someone from that agency is opening up some significant liability for their agency. All agencies should educate their fire police, and members in general, on the law to avoid conflicts which could prove costly for the agency.

Is it really all of us who don't get it, or is it just you? It's been clearly established you were wrong. Just plain wrong. Yet, you continue to want us to take your side over this calltaker, who it sounds was just doing her job, and doing it well. Why should we blindly side with you over your unwarranted and nasty criticisms? Just because your "on the job"? Your not impressing anyone here. Everyone here is "on the job". You keep doubling down, yet you remain in the wrong. Why should we side with you? You have the nerve to come on this forum, call out this dispatcher, and now, in retrospect, we see it's for no legitimate reason. In all your posts, you have failed to identify how this woman was incompetent.
As for your last thought, I'm glad I don't work with you either, because you seem to have a poor attitude, no attention to detail, and a short fuse. I would have a miserable time dealing with that full-time. Additionally, if while driving "55 mph on a highway" you can't see the MPM, then you may have serious vision issues. I don't want someone like that backing me up. I also don't want someone backing me up who doesn't have the integrity and fortitude to admit when he or she made a mistake. Finally, I don't want anyone working with me who sterotypically believes workers may be inferior, just because they are female. So for once, you said something I agree with, I don't want to work with you either. :-)
