There is enough waste of taxpayer resources in my own district to be worried about someone 100 miles away.

    I will
I will not get into a pissing contest with you on such a forum. Just please research the facts before you put up "factpinions", everyone has issues with vehicles, and TransCare is in fact much larger than you know.
I state facts! No Factpinions, if you would like any information or to clear the air you can contact me at anytime.

It's because it's NY. The same state that decided that since they wanted to teach CPR in EMT class, they had to change the entire EMS system around from the national curriculum. The same state that has decided that if you own an out of state corporation but live in NY, you should pay corporation taxes in NY in addition to the other state's taxes.

I was just wondering, does anyone know the reason why civil service testing in New York State is such a long process.
For example, the fact Orange County has stated it would take 3 to 6 months to get the written test results of the dispatcher exam.
In other states, the written exam results are graded and returned the same day of the test. And in 6 months you could go through the hiring process and start the academy for police officers or be working as a dispatcher.
I realize that the counties in NY have to submit the tests to the state but still, they are Scantrons, it should not take 6 months. Plus the fact that the counties in NYS still snail-mail the results.
It just seems so inefficient in this age of technology

I would like to say one thing about the article in the news paper. I am a member in the village of Mamaroneck and the kid that says he was a fireman he is know longer a member of the department and when we arived on the scene he was standing out side. He was clean as if he was going out for the night and also told us nobody was in the house. If the members of the department didn't do a search we would have never found her so don't go by what you read in the newspaper because it is false I was one of the first on scene and have to say the Vmfd did a great job to save the women.

    Good luck everyone.
A few of my buddies got the typing notice for the test. Not sure what the qualifying word per minute score is. Somebody told them to also keep an eye out for the food consumption evaluation test notice. I think the minimum qualifications are 4 meals and/or snacks before lunch time.

I got my letters for the typing test for Westchester, but my score was not on the letters. Obviously I passed the exam if I got these letters for the typing test.
I also took Orange & Dutchess County exams, have not heard anything yet.

just had 4 guys from Detroit Fd in last week not a lot of surround and drown, more like 3 - 5 fires a shift and get your ass kicked. And for no money, and now no city pension. More like a 401-k. Shame what the city has done to that dept. And you don't try to be a firefighter for a couple of years, it isn't like buying a car to see if you like it.

An internet search of headlines turns up titles such as "Police officer injuried in accident enroute to call", "Respected Doctor killed in one car accident", "Belover school teacher killed in tragic auto accident". etc. Based on the explaination given these were journalistically poor headlines?
