  1. Both training centers have their pros and cons. Both training centers have OUTSTANDING instructors who have a wealth of information and experience to share. The new training equipment at WC DES is not only a step in the right direction, but a huge benefit to responders in the entire area. Be thankful for what you have. Trust me, you have no clue what kind of hoops DES administration had to jump through to put these new props in place, and to get the level of instructors we have.
  2. Technically, do they really need permission? Im going to guess in certain situations they don't actually need permission... ie. public property. Others...Im not sure.
  3. I guess he didn't see what happened to a Westchester FF who did that back in the late 90's!
  4. Why the utility designation? It looks like you have enough room...why not go for the Rescue designation? Whats it missing?
  5. Nice looking rig... what type of equipiment is it going to carry / and for what purpose? Good luck with it.
  6. Any part time work up there?
  7. Check out SureFire lights. Especially for security / all purpose. I currently use a Z3 combat light with an upgraded lamp. Goes through batteries quite quickly due to the high output of the lamp, but it is without a doubt, the brightest light I have ever seen. Plus, its on/off switch is on the end cap. So you can use it constant or on and off...depending on your needs. SureFire has a decent selection of lights...my model has been discontinued (Z3 Combatlight). But the Z2 Combatlight is currently issued to FBI Agents and USMS. I also have an executive E2E...but its not as bright. I believe their web site is : Http://www.surefire.com Best place to buy them is off e-bay. Plus, everything on them is covered...except batteries. I melted a lens a few years back...my fault...but they covered it TOTALLY! I hope this helps.
  8. No White Castle tonight! Steaks @ 60!!
  9. White Castle is BAD!! I can't handle it anymore!
  10. Capt. Mike Cyrliuk of Somers FD = HERO! PEEEERRRRRRR-fect!
  11. Alcohol has no place in the fire service! People just look for reasons to sue, why risk it? You could hurt someone, or yourself. I know of some local departments that have trouble getting more then their first due out the door, but their bar is always staffed!
  12. Did anyone else see the garbage report that aired on news twelve like a week ago, right after stories about MKPD & SHPD about the two rappers from Rockland singing about how the Police abuse them. What a joke!
  13. Your welcome...I ate more then you did!
  14. Because those 60 Control people wanted White Castle.
  15. Thank about it: You have an MVA, traffic is getting backed up, what is going to show up better in a flood of RED brake lights, blue or red? Bottom line - If it involves the safety of your firefighters, police, or EMTs there should be no question. Ive always been a fan of blue lights for ALL emergency vehicles, front and back!
  16. Do they allow EMTBravo in jail?
  17. Mike, I have this friend, that got stopped by a certain angry Trooper 6-7 years ago, on a certain roadtrip, going to SUNY Cortland, who was quite angry about the distance it took him to catch up to a certain white shaging wagon. Angry Troopers are never good, especially when your license is expired! Thank god for the "Pop's a pig card!" (old inside joke)
  18. Maybe hes had a bad expierence related to it? He transfered to Croton On Hudson Police in 2001. I can't imagine why you wouldn't want people looking in your car...with all the buff stuff, your a pawn shop's dream! j/k You are completely right, when I am pulled over, all windows go down, interior light goes on, and I tell the Officer what Im doing...every move I make. These days, it seems smart to forget to mention your fire & EMS related affiliations...especially in some parts of the county.
  19. Agreed, I think everyone has to look out now. Thank you for clearing up the whole 10-13 thing...I never looked @ it from that perspective.
  20. Anyone have pics of 39 Truck's old HQ? Is it worth the trip down to see? Anyone have the exact address of the old station?
  21. You know what bothers me about this? This dudes brother appears in the news, is well dressed, well spoken, has a home, etc... Yet his brother is homeless. The guy has nothing to do with his his brother, until he is dead, now his hand is outstretched. DISGUSTING! They are digging up all these unsolved "hispanic" murders and making it look like the Officer may have been involved. What a joke. Who knows how the victim received the abd injury. No witness has come forward. Even with the tapes showing a police car in the area, does that prove anything other then he may have been in the area? I think the Officer is getting the short end of the stick! Totally unfair. Any word on a 10-13 party for the Officer? He is suspended without pay. Anyone in touch with the MKPD PBA? Good luck and god bless to MKPD.
  22. Croton On Hudson Police has ONE Officer writes a lot of tint violations. From what I have seen, he never has the tint meter with him. I have never had a problem anywhere else.
  23. Is it just me, or does it completely seem like society has completely moved on? People act like its just another day. I have a couple opinions I would like to share: First: Why doesn't FDNY, NYPD, and FDNY EMS treat responders who have died from WTC related illnesses as "line of duty" deaths? You don't see their names being added to memorials, do you? Second: Why aren't said responders mentioned at the annual memorial in NYC? They lost their lives directly due to the attacks...just took longer! Is it because the city administration chooses not to acknowledge their deaths as WTC related? ($$$) Third: Why isn't September 11th a national holiday? Hint: $$$$ Society is disgusting. I have not forgotten!
  24. Pardon me if I seem a little "touchy" on this subject. It seems to me like you may have something agains't your "familiar names" down in SH. Maybe something personal agains't 2 particular people? In the past you claimed to have inside information on cases regarding SHFD members. The same members that were found "not guilty" by a jury of their peers? I guess what Im trying to say is in all cases; I am sure that all the facts have not be made public, especially to you. So, as you said, lets put this issue to rest. Im sure the truth will come out, quite soon. Rob, I mean no disrespect to you... but I think there are misconceptions about what has gone on down there.
