  1. I recently met Mahlon at the instructor's conference in October, I have never met anyone in my 36 years that knows more about pumps and pumping. He & Norm had a good time busting each others stones about the LaFrances and Norm's MACK. I have to side with Norm.
  2. Yes, Rob is correct that is our old baby the former engine 119. Maywood bought it to use as a first due engine while their new engine was being built. Now that they have received it they are selling the Mack, it looks like they are selling it for almost what they paid for it 2 years ago. It is a great running & pumping rig and of course it is still a great looking rig. The reason we replaced it lie with rust problems underneath it. Whoever gets it will get one heck of a sweet rig.
  3. I believe every county has deputy coordinators. In Westchester there are 11 of us on the fire side and 3 on the EMS side. 9 of us are actually titled Mutual Aid Coordinators, 2 are assigned for fire investigation to oversee the 5 C&O teams throughout the county. We must apply for the position and go through an interview by officals from DES and the fire advisory board. We receive a stipend as well as mileage. Our main focus is to respond within our respective battalion to any mutual aid fire. We are also required to conduct an annual Battalion wide drill which we may conduct jointy with another adjoining battalion. We also have to hold meetings. We are to realy information from DES to our departments and bring back any concerns from our departments back to the Deputy Commisioner. We also assist our respective departments with other matters that may arise. We are designated on the radio as Battalion 10 through 18, cars 24 & 25 are the C&O deputies and EMS car 10, 11 & 12. Some of us are former Chiefs. The 2 C&O guys have law enforcement and fire service backgrounds.
  4. short & sweet regarding that dreaded string mentioned the answer to your problem is called training, if you train enough with something new it wll be 2nd nature when the time comes. The new realease is on Millwoods new ladder 52 a great idea.
  5. Well said as Usual Tommy. Our Dept. policy is the 1st due engine responds emergency mode and the balance of the assignment responds non emergency mode. This article reminds me of back when I was still a cop, when we were going to make the switch to the semi automaitic sidearms one of our genious citizens in attendance at that particular Village board meeting wanted to know why we couldn't just buy maybe 3 or 4 and everyone could share them. There are just way too many "smart" people out there.
  6. Congratulations son. No disrespect to other members of the week but in this case could it also be called get a life? As for the helmet, well it better still fit, it has a special plaque in it.
  7. Chief - Batallion 10 was at the Command post with the IC and Putnam Car 9, where I belong!
  8. We have a new expedition coming in shortly to replace car 2082 the 1st asst. Chief car and Ems has been it's own entity since June 1 of this year. I hope this helps.
  9. It seems as though we will never learn, maybe just a little bit too much bravado!
  10. To all of our great veterans, god bless you and thank you for fighting for the freedoms that we all enjoy and often times abuse. We all know that Freedom is not FREE!
  11. Texting while driving see LA California train accident last month I believe, and they don't even have to steer those things.
  12. Regarding the CPD, as a retired sgt from that agency I know they have looked the other way for a long time, and they have been disrected by many members of the CFD. And yes like my son said it is only a select few officers that are involved. While employed there and while I was serving my 2 terms as Chief of the CFD I made it clear to the officers of the CPD that if they caught a member of the FD violating the law to handle it like any other driver and that I did not want to hear about it or get called regarding the infraction. I told the members of the FD that if they got caught and got a summons, again, I did not want to hear about it.
  13. Tommy, Sorry I forgot the EMS in my post.

All things considered with 1 large a/c unit falling into the structure and a second larger one in danger of falling in a great job was done by all, the most important item is EVERYONE WENT HOME - NO INJURIES.

  22. Tanker task force believe it or not guys & gals some of us deputy coordinators are working on develping that idea now. Don't remember who posted that link about burlington thank you I will use that while I work on the task force ideas. SO it is not too progressive for westchester county, it is just going to take some work and most of all cooperation of CHiefs.
  23. Joe truly was a gentlemen nad he is greatly missed by all of us that had the pleasure of knowing him. He was also one of the fallen brothers honored this past weekend at the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial service at the National Fire Academy. I must say there was a very nice turnout by the BMFD.
