  1. Wow Capt. Thats exactly what was needed in this thread. As I said in an earlier post (which was deleted and I dont know why), this thread is about Steve being hurt. It should stay on point.
  2. Actually I seem a recall a certain squad rig and ladder running into each other and injuring a dozen or so members quite recently. Its an unfortunate incident on both jobs but it does happen. This post is about the well-being of our brother Steve.
  3. Also, congrats to three pipers from the Yonkers Pipes & Drums. They were the pipers at the cemetary.
  4. They do go to working fires in their due districts. They do not goto every working fire in the city. If they are not already on the ticket, they do respond as the Rescue if rescue is already busy. They act as a regular engine company. Sometimes they are still referred to as 311, as this was their previous designation.
  5. Fire came in about 8:05am. Claredon Ave off Lockwood Ave. B-2 on another assignment. 312,310,309,314, Tl-75, 72, R-1, Safety. 2 lines operating.
  6. Is anyone really shocked? Sharpton is set to march any day.
  7. That has be joke, correct? It is not a requirement. Do you not take the word of a well respected member of the Rescue company?
  8. Is that a serious comment? Sounds bitter to me. The old mobile command was used at many incidents. Why cant you just appreciate a nice piece of equipment?
  9. Thank you for that reply. Couldn't have said it any better.
  10. Its very sad that this house couldn't be re-opened. Its in terrible condition but a firehouse is needed in this section of town. A shame the city won't let 2 engine come back.
  11. If units were still coming 15 minutes AFTER the first arriving units there is a serious problem. Do you know how long it took the first units to get there? If it took them 5 minutes to arrive, then it takes other units 20 minutes to get there. Very sad and I feel for those living in that district.
  12. You don't need College. Just a GED or high school. Thats the minimum.
  13. That just means it can substitute for A or B.
  14. Can the "hypothetical" depts in question also be posted? If this is a true "hypothetical" incident than it shouldn't matter.
  15. Gotta second Goose's statement
  16. Always a good time. You guys are the best band ever, especially the bass player.
  17. "Five years after scoring higher than all but 11 men" Just to correct this quote, she was ranked #52 on the list, not #12.
  18. No one knows for sure exactly how the Consent Decree effects the written score except for the Justice Dept. and the person who scores the test. Yonkers Civil Service doesn't know the formula and neither does the YFD. If someone tells you other wise they are lying. There have been many attempts to find out the formula and all have been unsuccessful. The only thing known for sure is there is some sort of curve to help the minorities qualify for the physical exam. The scoring process is suppossed to be 50-50 but the written is clearly heavily favored.
  19. The truck comes out at big jobs and supplies drinks and snacks to the fireman and displaced residents. It is manned by Salvation Army personnel and everything given out is supplied by them. They also help the residents with other concerns regarding shelter and such things.
  20. The old Squad rig will be a fully stocked spare in case the new one is out of service. The old 303 and 304 will also be spares to replace the terrible looking spares that are used now. Not sure about 314's rig.
  21. Having driven the Squad rig, I am very excited to finally have this in town and in service on Weds. 303 and 314 are on schedule to also be in service by Weds. There was an issue with 304 so that is slightly behind schedule.
  22. The rigs will all be in service by weds. The men are being trained on them until then. So far, everyone seems to like them. Very excited for them to finally be here.
