Just so everybody is aware when people are looking for me, lol. Providing I do not chicken out and not get on the plane (I LOVE to fly and love airplanes, but my other personality is terrified of flying), I will be flying JetBlue to San Diego tommorow morning, where I will be staying until Thursday evening. This trip also has do with my pursuit/dream of a Firefighter/Paramedic career in Los Angeles County. Although 1 night and 1 day will be spent in LA (LA is quickly becoming my second home, lol , this trip will primarily focus on San Diego....I've never been to San Diego before. So if anybody's looking for me, or wondering why there is a delay in my reply to them via PM or email, that's why. And I hope nobody will be emailing me to complain about slow updates to the site while I'm away, lol! And although I will be checking in here a couple of times a day, I'm not going to spend several hours as I do each day updating the site and answering emails when I'm in California....I'm going to try and devote as much time as possible to enjoying the area and seeing the sites, and taking care of business. Don't fret though, updates will resume next weekend. Special thanks to Truck4 and CODE3RND for their tremendous help in planning my trip. Although it's rainy season out there, I hope to get some good photos to share with you guys upon my return.

Ladys and Gentleman, I present to you Exhibit A of what simple reasons are holding this county back.....LOL!!! I like the KEF227 too, but you have to know when to let things go! :builder:

Well, except for the Cops re-runs, and Married with Children, I hate the FX cable channel. Same goes for Fox TV (with the exception of Fox News). I feel they are very unethical and will show anything/degrate/exploit anything in the name of ratings. Like how they are basically trashing firefighters in the show "Rescue Me" So, they are advertising for a "FX Original Movie" tonight. It's called "Smallpox" and it's regarding a smallpox outbreak in a urban area. At the end of the commercial, they show words on the screen and the announcer says (in regards to a smallpox outbreak and the movie)"It's all true.....it just hasn't happened.....yet". Now, I don't think it's very nice, the premise of the movie. But it is a movie. I take issue with that last line in the commercial. You're really going to freak some people out with the movie already, is it neccasary to put that line in? Thats just messed up IMO.

Thanks DOC. I just spoke with one of my friends out there (he's from NY out there visiting) who said it's raining, and absolutely miserable. January is rainy season out there. I'm mainly going out on business, so hopefully my next time out will be nice and sunny again. Grrrrr. Well, I will try and get as many Fire apparatus and other photos as I can. I hope for at least one sunny day.

Why is the City Of White Plains so stingy? They seem to be a thriving city with a nice tax base, and they seem to be frugal with a lot of their expenditures, so they must have a decent amount of money to at least renovate the station. As for ESU being in the station, doesn't ESU patrol?

I've donated money online to a couple different charities, but not the Red Cross. Besides them, I'm sure there are tons of others out there looking to make a quick dollar from this tragedy. It's quite the sad situation. A lot of these people had nothing to begin with. The continuing to rise toll is unbelievable. And the disease and problems to come is unimaginable.

Just looking through the photos of the New Ro fire today on NYCFire.net, and noticed there was a seemingly newer Transcare bus in one of the photos, with the standard Transcare markings. Do the New Ro EMS buses (30-A-1 and 2) no longer striped/marked for New Rochelle EMS and Sound Shore Hospital? Maybe I'm just out of the loop down that way, but I know it was like that. I thought it was part of the contract for the buses to be marked as such?

That would be my guess. Actually, I see the FD's/VAC's fighting the centralazation plans so they don't lose their hometown dispatch. There's already talk of it.....unfortunetly, there are some really anti-progressive/local control advocates in the area. I don't see it being feasible for GPD to do it, so I personally think if your going to do all those equipment changes, then just go to 60 control anyways.

William J. Matthews, father of Fairview FD Deputy Chief Barry Matthews has passed away. Retired from Fairview FD, past member of Rye and Ossining FD's.....and very active in the Westchester Fire service during his time. Mr. Matthews got to see Barry bring back Fairview's Ahrens Fox Engine 1,which he was the last to drive before it left FFD, return to Fairview this summer, and rode on it with Chief Matthews during Hartsdale's 100th Anniversary Parade. RIP.

These are the kinds of threads that I like seeing. =D> =D> =D> =D> Excellent points and advice that can be used by everyone! What is all boils down to....mutual respect and proffesionalism.......on both sides. It's all to easy to just play "Blame The Dispatcher" . There's a lot that goes on there that field people don't see or understand, and vice versa.

Happy New Years Everyone!! I'll be celebrating it KEC625 style, lol!!

The site is free to those who subscribe to Cablevision Cable or Broadband. If you live outside of Westchester and do not subscribe to the above, and want to stay current on what goes on in the WC, than you must pay. Like when I travel and acess it via a different ISP, I have to enter in my OptOnline name and password or my account number to access the news. I would have thought I would just have to put in 25 cents and turn the knob, and the news would come out.

I'm annoyed by just about everything they do.

Can you carry the "Raine" line of belt pouches, that are geared towards the EMS professional? They make some great and innovative stuff for holding equipment on your belt, unfrontunetly, nobody carries a good selection around here or online. Also, uniform accesories would be nice, especially cold weather gear, lol.

http://www.tenethealth.com Tenet is basically a hospital corportation. They own a bunch of actue care hospitals across the country. They own one in the Worcester, MA (Operating as Worcester Medical Center AKA Med City AKA St Vincents). They bought St Vincents after they shut down. I'm familiar with the one in Worcester because I used to work at UMass, another (seperate) hospital in that city. Med City,It's just like any other hospital. One of Tenet's strategy's is to purchase a hospital post-closure, therefore they can get their hands on the facilities and sometimes employees and not have to assume any of the debt. Unfortunetly, I think it would be a stretch for Tenet to buy United because of the lousy demographics. The only other place I could remotely see buying United would be, big laugh here, the Archdiocese...but Ifigure they would buy St Agnes first if anything.

Unfortunetly, United Hospital is closing. I cannot see anyone wanting any remote affiliation with the name, or wanting to assume the debt or aging, outdated facilities, or large amount of clientel with the inability to pay. If anybody wanted United, the deal would have been struck long ago. Greenwich/Yale Health System will not have anything to do with United, and part of that is due to United being in NYS, and Greenwich being in CT. Both are run under two completly seperate set of rules and state laws, and it would probaly be not advantageous for Greenwich to try and work against that. New York Hospital (Columbia/Cornell) obviously laid low and didnt want much to do with it. White Plains Hosp/Stellaris doesnt have the capital to buy it or handle the debt load, nor does Sound Shore. The only company that I would think MAY want it would be Tenet Healthcare, but this may even be a stretch for them. Westchester's population is growing, yet the amount of hospital beds declining, yet hospital admissions are growing. Another problem with the WC hospitals is our proximity to NYC. Many of the yuppies who are invading and ruining what was once a very nice county have lived in Manhattan for years and choose to seek medical care there, and when they need hospitilization, they seek it there. I feel bad for all the patients that grew to trust United Hospital and their staff, mainly the elderly who have gone to United for years. I'm also quite suprised that the Port Chester community didn't rally against this. But then again, much of PC's residents are not citizens.. I don't think PC is what it used to be either. I wonder how these new Port Chester resident will be accessing healthcare now? Whatever happened to charity?????

Just curious if anyone uses Fire/Rescue or EMS software for their PDA, what is the program(s), how do you like it, and what/when do you use it for? Is it for Palm OS or Windows Mobile OS? I just downloaded eMedic, and it's pretty cool
