  3. OK, besides the great question from msm....... (Didnt North White have a Patrol also? That's gonna be my guess.) Here's another: What would stump chris498?
  4. I forgot I even had this, and I thought I would share it since it's so unique. While doing a little reorganizing today, I found this among some of my older die-cast's : Click Here To Look It's a Hot Wheels "Kitbash" of the old Fairview Rescue 3. I think I bought this from Westchester Collectibles at their booth at the Kensico Dam Muster in '93 or '94.
  5. I'm looking to purchase a Digital SLR once I get back to work after school is done......I am looking to a Nikon or Canon since my current cameras are those and I'm pretty happy with them. Any ideas on how to get the best price? I also will probaly end up taking a basic photography class, so I can use the features on the camera better. Right now, all I know is how to aim and click the button only, and edit photos. I think their is a big difference between point-and-shoot photos/camera and photograpy, and hopefully I will be able to start taking better pictures with this camera and class, and improve my skills. After all, what good's a $1,400 camera if you're only can use one feature?
  6. I like that idea, I'd be in for that.
  7. Westchester County Police ESU.
  8. I prefer and really like type 1's, especially PL Custom, Lifeline, or Road Rescue because they are built solid with quality materials.......I like Horton, but their lack of ability to customize and, well, stupid control panel has turned me off to them. Braun makes a nice ambulance, BEMS has gotten a few of them, I mostly prefer the "traditional Braun" slope sided version, but I question how well they hold up in the long run. I prefer Type 1's on F-350's because of the features the truck chasis offers (greater durability, bigger rear diff, bigger (and easier to access) engine and transmission, and the added legroom in the cab, useful when you are in a system where you have to post or relocate and post, and more cabroom in general, which is good when you have MDT and GPS units. I'm still kinda on the fence with the "Type 4"s....Boston has them, they seem to work well and add a greater turning radius and more cabroom. Although they apperar much bigger, I am told they are actually the same size (wheelbase) as the Type 1 Hortons, they just appear bigger because they sit higher. Paint scheme- I like BEMS White, with reflexite orange striping and blue trim, and "Somers Style".
  9. For a while there, the *rumors* about the incident and injuries to the Police Officers were grim, and as I know several Yonkers and County cops....I'm glad they didnt turn out to be true and I wish all the PD officers injured by those petty lowlifes (the car thieves) a speedy recovery.

  13. Station 8 is Greenwich FD's newest station, located on North Street adjacent to the Merrit Pkwy, in the "sticks" of Greenwich. . Banksville FD is considered Greenwich FD Station 7, since half of Banksville lies within Greenwich. They identify as 7-series units on GFD freqeuncies when operating as Greenwich units.

  21. Not-News 12 "Night" Edition got a great shot of Ladder 71.
  22. I absolutely do not think the County should issue Utilities to Fire Departments. First, money can (and should) be better spent elsewhere.(Such as a mobile-data terminal program, but thats a whole other issue) I do agree that Utilties are a useful tool. Besides the ideas stated above, they can be used to tow trailers with special equipment, ferry additonal crew equipment to and from incidents, and run errands alleviating the wear and tear and liability on members vehicles and more expenive peices of apparatus I also like the idea of "toolbox" type bodies with an open bed, so that the utiility can serve as a spare or backup rescue. As for putting a plow on the truck, I think not only for plowing the station (Usually DPW is pretty good from what I hear in most communities) It can plow other apparatus to calls. I personally think VMFD Utility 9 is ideal, although a simple crew cab pickup would do the job just fine. http://www.geocities.com/westtac1/SpecFeat/U9.html
