  1. Alot of departments in their rush to aid their neighbors don;t make very good arrangements to protect their own district, what if they had a worker in their 1st due area? how long would M/a units take to arrive?
  2. i deffinatly side with DG795 on this, i am a bigger fan of a MDT system on all county rigs.. i think that this can better serve the whole rather then the few who would benifit from the utilities
  3. that policy stinks, and this is gettin rediculious... Hartsdale just had a opening that was filled with a transfer from scarsdale thus there must be a opening for a firefighter over there... Any body have any info on how they plan to fill that spot?
  4. They deffinatly are taking a beating, it makes you wonder if they are going to think about replacing 70 or 74 this way they can drop one of those down to 76, mabe even a new TL to become 71 and 71 ccould become 77 rather then 75 which is newer...this would give them newer front line rigs, and the ability to have newer spares which have scene alot of work lately... i still stand by the fact the city needs more companies, i think another engine and truck in the city would help a great deal.. also ponder the fact what if yonkers had a engine with a CAF system could this have helped contain the fire quicker?
  5. 75 and 70 and 73 were all up on south broadway... 74 and 77 had the rear of the building both were up... 74 was spraying water as well as 70 and 75 and 73.. 77 encountered over head wires and was placed on the roof of the rear exposure.. 72 which was using spare 76 was also in the fron og the building with a OOS ladder.. and 71 had the side and was operation as well so all ladder pipes were up in use at some point with the exception that 77 was not using its master stream to my knowledge
  6. are you sure tha Tl-71 didn;t operate? i was there they were settin it up in that drive way after having cut the fence away to gain access to the drive way why go through that work and put the stablizers down if it was inoperable?.. why place it so close just for tools, and i was told that 71 was operating and spraying watter, i am not sure caz i went around back at that point but does nay one know to clarify?
  7. Just a side note, Station 2 Fairview now Has Eng-174, Pierce Enforcer, and Eng 176 the Pierce Arrow, they no longer have the Mack tower, and the new ladder 1 isn't yet in service, 176 is acting as the truck with saws and overhawl equipment
  8. Word From My sources at Fairview is that Ladder one went in service yesterday... can any one confirm?
  9. Does any one know the status of yonkers rescue 1? they had the Mack CF engine that was modified to be rescue one on the scene last night at 149 n broadway... i guess that rig some how fits all of rescue ones equipment? i find that hard to believe... and does the collapse unit have a number or designation other then the collapse unit?
  10. i know Ladder 76 is a Rear mount, i am guessing a seagrave, probably one of the trucks 72 and 73 replaced? but thats a guess.. its deffinatly a rear mount straight stick, and ladder 77 is the old tower ladder 75..
  11. all yonkers companies committed, 4th alarm... towers 71, 75 operating along with 2 straight sticks.... fire blowing through the roof, reports of people traped which last i hear were negative... as of 2130hrs exterior ops suspended resuming interior operations in main fire building, 2ndary search's in progress...
  12. i am glad you agree, i think beyond our tri District training we need to drill more with other neighbors, lets face it there are fires that will require more the hartsdale Greenville and Fairview, towns like ardsley and elmsford will be needed and we should work with them in training, mabe not weekly, mabe monthly, but anything is better then nothing at this point, one step at a time....
  13. it is my sad regret to inform every one FDNY lost one of their members today during a 4th alarm fire. he was the father of 2 young kids, and a member of one the 1st classes to graduate after 9/11, lets keep him and his family in our prayers..
  14. Rumor has it that Hartsdale and Greenville will be implimenting a new 2nd alarm responce plan. the plan now is if hartsdale requests a 2nd alarm in addition to hartsdale's 2 engs and 1 truck the 2nd alarm units are FFD 174 and GFD ladder 4, the new plan calls for scarsdale to be included responding with 1 ENg designated the FAST unit. this would follow the yonkers plan of 4 engs 2 trucks the 4th due eng being the FAST truck... i think its a good idea and can;t wait to see if it is implimented.
  15. What type of rig is best suited? Rescue? Ladder, Engine? What type of equipmet is standard for your fast team what do you think a team should have that yours doesn;t? How many members is your ideal team, and how many do your respond with ( max and mini numbers)
  16. does every one have to have a truck, no, should they yes in my opnion even if its a quint with a 75 foot stick,, its great to have the option or luxary of a aierls device rather then pull up to a job and need on and not have it and sit there like a idiot with no means of reachin a roof or some high point while waiting for a M/A truck, one must then conside what ladders would eb on your engine, would u carry only the standard 24 footer, or would u find room for a 35? once again thats my opinion that every department should have a truck company
  17. i am sure the shot was well worth the troubles of getting it... its a great shot and rare not many others would go through all that...
  18. sounds like a good idea, i would be in, only draw back is i doubt Hartsdale has enough young guys to field a team, mabe we can team up with some one else? or i could always be a Ardsley ringer again...lol waz u think Chris?
  19. i love the art of the hot bottle change, but thats goin to be done away with soon, in Hartsdale 2 of our new air packs have those quick connectors so a air bottle can be switch if a fire fighter is down or out of air in a matter of seconds... does any one else have these, or seen these bottles?
  20. minitor II deffinatly has a better range of reception then that of the IV, i like the vibrate on the IV from the stand point when your in class or when your in a public place you don;t have your tones goin crazy and having people jump and look all around.. i presently have both.. i carry the IV when i am working and stuff as it is smaller then the II, and because of the vibrate, but the 2 is deffinatly better at picking up hartsdales communications so after dispatch i usually switch over to the II while responding in my Car... but thats my opinion
  21. ya, we are in the process of creating the journal as we speak i don;t know how large or what exactly it includes caz its not one of the jobs i have taken on but i do know there will be one available.
  22. 57 truck is right, the rumors i hear all say it will be stations at station 2 with eng 2 tl 6 and the parking lot unit.
  23. deffinatly just like the 4 and 2 1st alarm of most normal cites of larger districts aside from one must take into account hartsdale runs Eng 170 at full staffing is 3 paid FF and 1 officer eng 169 usually has 2 or 3 depends on the deputy, becauyse some prefer the Tower to repspond with 2 FF and then leave 2 ff on Eng 169 while otehrs Favor the 3 FF on 169 and 1 FF on the tower ladder. this is at full staffing which at times could be even lower thus even the 4 and 2 is still alot lower then that of yonkers or FDNY. So the more man power the better and this proves the need for the volunteers in these districts or else M/a calls would increase even greater.
