  3. Got an email this afternoon saying interviews will be given on jan 14th and 15th. I do not know how quick of a process it is but seems to be moving faster than a snails pace at this point in time. Anybody else get there packet and or interview date?
  4. Hey thanks for the information. I have been in search for someone from the past exam and have not had any luck. Thanks again.

  6. "Not having modern breaking, traction control and stability control is not worth the liability and the potential financial loss (& life loss), particularly if the rig no longer meets the standards that will be used against the dept. in the courts." What are the modern breaking systems that you are talking about? Also ive seen most of the newer rigs going out of service due to electrical or error codes showing up on the new modern ABS/Traction control that come on these rigs. When it works it is great but when it doesn't work because a 5 dollar sensor than you'll have problems.
  7. Cant forget the good old Utility 13 1998 Ford F350/PL custom box
  8. no strobes on the new rig everything is led. The old one had all halogens and no leds.

  11. I have taken both survival and fast class twice, not only because i enjoy taking class but because i have learned something different each time on one of the most important topics of firefighting. If you have the time two take these classes twice do it, and if you don't have time then make time!!! because it will benefit you as a firefighter but your brothers and sisters that you could potentially safe from a life threatening situation. Remember585- i think that sitting guys down from fast teams and brainstorming or talking about different tactics that each team does would be a great idea. it be a benefit to other departments to learn what they do and try to learn new tactics and bounce ideas off one another. Being from kisco our fast team has been busy in the past with a lot of experienced guys but id really like to sit down with other teams to see what other fast teams do for years of service and age requirements to ride and be part of a fast team. The age of the guys that us younger guys lean on are starting to get up there and there response is starting to decline to these types of calls and with us getting a bunch of new young guys in the company id really like to see what other teams requirements are to get on these teams if they have them at all along with comparing it to our requirement that we have in place. Im sure if a get together was organized you would have a good amount of participants that show up to put there two cents in.
  12. http://www.ifco13.com/apps/public/gallery/?Gallery=new105 link to the gallery of the new rig. final inspection should be coming up in a few weeks.
  13. Trucks are getting larger and the firehouse is not growing along with it. We two have many commercial buildings along with a hospital many schools and the biggest threat is the old grand union warehouse which poses many threats for us as a fire department. The media misinformed you as they usually do we DO NOT just cover 3 square miles. We are also contracted to cover an additional 8 square miles for the town of Bedford and new castle. These additional areas give very little hydrant protection. This is the main reason to having 4 engines because we do not have a tanker in our department. As stated above one firehouse is not feasible in our village due to flood problems also for ISO purposes the stations have been placed where they are for a reason. Mt Kisco fd is set up the way it is for a reason and all were asking for is a little more room.
  14. truck it is replacing has 750 gallon tank and trying to keep it small.
  15. Mount Kisco Fire Department October 14th from 11AM to 2PM Green Street Fire House Fire Truck Rides and Live Fire Demonstration

  19. As many of you know the FDNY exam is approaching quickly and everyone knows that the physical portion of the exam will be the CPAT. I myself am taking the exam and me and retired FDNY lieutenant from my company are in the process of building a course at our firehouse. I am just posting here to see if anyone in the county would be interested in participating in running through the course during a designated time during the week. Their may be a small one time fee like $15 dollars to cover the cost of building the course and after payment you could use the course as many times as you would like. If anybody is interested please PM me or email me at ifco2007@yahoo.com for more information. Stay safe Dan
  20. Mount Kisco sends TL-14 to the fox lane campus for everything with Bedford. I also believe that all any report of fire in a commercial building in Bedford our Tower Ladder gets sent as well.
  21. Mt. Kisco has one commissioner from each company. So four make up our board of commissioners for the village and are elected by the companies they originate from.
  22. Was surfing through youtube and found a good video of the Detroit Fire Department and all of their struggles that they are having during this turmoil. The video is lengthy, 50 mins but it is worth to sit down and watch it. Their is also another good documentary that is 10 mins long called Burn-The Detroit Fire Dept. (Comes up on the common videos on the right side) This is a link to the longer of the two. All departments have their pros and cons, but after watching these two videos it brought me to another world on the type of stuff they have to deal with. Stay Safe!
  23. Im not sure about the NFPA standard but the issue of compartment space for such a storage compartment comes up. If you were to put it on an apparatus, then you would most likely lose a whole compartment to just flammable liquids, and in this tight economy where compartment space becomes a luxury due to the tight budgets, is it worth it to lose the valuable storage space?
  24. I wanted to know what everyone thinks about the pierce puc? What are the pros and cons along with what are your experiences with this rig? All info is greatly appreciated! Thanks
