  1. Sad to say most of us are still waiting for a bailout system. I'd love for FFCool to give his power point to our city leaders.I'm sure after the next tragedy the first thing they will ask is "why didn't they have some kind of bailout system?"I"d also love for them to hear the audio from this fire,I"ve listened to it over and over again and i get chills hearing the panic is these firefighters voices.Maybe that would wake them up.

  6. workin in new ro for the last nine years i have never had a problem knowing whos the IC is.The man in the big white hat with the gold shield standing in front of the building.I dont claim to know how volunteer or combo depts run incidents but with two three or four chief cars responding to an incident not to mention ex or past chiefs showing up in personal vehicles and if mutual aid shows up with more chiefs it could get very confusing im sure.

  7. just like als said there aint nothing you can do with a booster that you cant do with an 1 3/4".Its just an outdated piece of equipment that would take up way to much space on a rig that actually works. Granted they are a piece of equipment that looks great on classic apparatus but thats where they belong in parades or museums.

  8. I think the pump operator should have his feet on the ground. Not just for safety but he has alot more things to do than just pull levers and read gauges. At least in my dept he may have to make the brake, if necessary pull a courtyard strech hook up the 5" etc. I think having everything close together and the ability to move around the rig is crucial for me at least.Cant see having to climb up and down.Might give a better view of the fireground but i'll pass. Just my opinion.

  9. When you talk about raising the staffing levels to NFPA standards we all know that aint gunna happen. But how bout enough FF'S to make an effective initial attack.Maybe 3 FF's on the engine 2or3 on the truck. They could get a line in place(and charge it) and begin searches or opening up.Then rely on your mutual aid. If Pelham manor would do the same then you've at least got enough to make that initial attack.Thats three more firefighters per shift. The Pelhams cant afford that? Then maybe you wouldn't need a five or six department response.

  10. Now on another topic I heard that there was no IC board set up at this fire is there any truth to that statement? I have been told by members of my job that they saw alot of white and red helmets there and everyone they asked there what needed to be done they were told this aint my show I am only here to help. When that many mutual aid depts show up to work it is critical to set up a board and have full control of all companies. Would someone from this fire please correct my statements if they are wrong. I am not starting a war here it is all about the safety of the Brothers.

although i cant give any info on this fire, I also have seen at a recent MA fire what seemed to me to be a lack of accountabilty.I agree and i hope we all agree accountability is key to all of us going home safe.Like you said the mutual aid companies showing up need to be kept track of. I think 4 or 5 Depts on scene heading in to a structure without a commandboard is very dangerous, and i know the smaller depts with 5 or 6 guys showing up on the initial alarm the commandboard is not a high priority putting the fire out and conducting searches are. But i also saw alot of white and red helmets and i hope someone was accounting for everyone but i dont think so.
