  3. - just as the 2 mutual aid drills conducted between Westchester Units & FDNY in the past year coordinated by the NYSOFPC - personnel from OFPC had laptops at the staging area to check the training records of the units participating as set forth in FDNY's standards - recommended in a post 9/11 report.
  4. Interoperable unit is in a van that Empress donated to YFD - The Van was painted white over red. Kaiser unit is not currently assigned a function. The numbering scheme for Spares and Reserves is currently in flux - With the arrival of the 3 ALF pumpers after the first of the year all of the reserve and spare numbers will be reassigned - as will be the case when the new ladders arrive in March or so
  5. units included WCDES Comms van, Yonkers, Greenville, Hartsdale, Fairview, Mount Vernon, White Plains, New Rochelle, Eastchester - went to 3 locations in the Bronx for multi-unit drill after leaving Ridge Hill staging area - NYSOFPC was on hand to do credentialing
  6. The Greenburgh TR Trailer was put together by the Westchester Special Operations Task Force - through a grant from Congeswoman Lowey. The trailer was designed by members of the YFD at their Special Operations Division. The trailer has set of airshores, trench panels, power tools, generators, air compressors, air bags. The trailer is primarily set up for Trench and building collapse operations.

  8. ht-1000 has been discontinued - go figure
  9. final inspection at ALF this week if all goes well they will ship to Campbell within 5 days and be delivered to Yonkers no later than 28 days after arrival at Campbell - I don't see them going in service before the end of May -
  10. The first two shots are not Squad 11 - the rest are - Squad 11 has a raised roof like Rescue -1
  11. There have been several valid points made! - We have had a lot of experience with cordless tools over the last 15 years. In particular with batteries developing memories - while no one can argue the power & reliability of a 110 AC electric tool, the cordless tool certainly has its place within its limitations - and you must come to grips with a few facts - 1. you must be prepared to rotate your stock of batteries at least once a year because of the nature of constantly charging the batteries they do not last as the manufactureres say they do - consider it a price of being prepared. 2. There is available a secondary battery system such as the Robopak - this is a corded battery 24V (available in other voltages) this is 24 V on steroids 3. While it is easy to say go with the 110V right off the bat - with limited manpower the primary focus may be on patient stabilization and deployment of the hydraulic tool. 4. and also mention was made of the 24v ac/dc adapter - a good option in extended operations 5. cordless is also a good option to reduce tangling of electric lines with hydraulic hoses - also reducing trip hazards 6. Have more than 1 cordless tool availble with extra batteries for each 7. Have both cordless and AC available
  12. Congrats - keep it up
  13. The fact is there was 3 sutphens that went to 303, 306 and 311 - after a few months 306 was switched with the Mack that 314 had - ( The Last CF) 314 is still in service 303 is now reserve 305 and 311 is now the Foam Unit
  14. Companies staged at Yonkers Race and went to predeisgnated firehouses in the Bronx to conduct a multi-unit drill to check out things such as tactics, equipment and hydrant, siamese and hose connections: Yonkers Engine and Ladder New Rochelle Ladder Greenville Engine Mount Vernon Engine and White Plains Ladder Units were given assignment at the Race track by OFPC
  15. All spare/reserve rigs have been fitted with frames over their spare/reserve number - when a in service company uses a spare/reserve they drop their placard into the frame over the spare/reserve number
  16. City of Yonkers to hold pre-bid meeting end of Sept. - bid opening set for end of October for 2 rear mount ladders and Heavy Rescue

  18. I am sure it will take several months - storage?
  19. Ladder has been towed down to Texron to begin restoration
  20. aka the NAT Burger - great
  21. The engine that is at the racetrack that is labeled Foam unit was actually the original foam unit - that rig is the one that was used by Rescue 1- before the arrival of the ALF - it had Rescue 1 placards over the Foam unit decals - there will be a 2nd mack CF at the track for the auction - this was the most recent foam unit - to answer the question 13 still has a foam rig - it is a Sutphen and will be lettered within a month or so
  22. we are in the process of securing a grant to restore it -
  23. ALF does make a Tandem axle - but in our bid process we spec a specific drivetrain & chassis components not a manufacturer - we would hope to have several bidders A tiller right now isn't practical for uniformity & training purposes We are in the process of looking for an alternate site for Ridge Hill
