I don want to single anyone out, but why are particular members posting incomplete IA's, without even knowing the incident location? And then asking other members to PM them with the necessary info to complete the IA? How about waiting until you have all the info, or at a minimum the incident location, and then posting it so no one wastes their time reading an incomplete IA.

    He didn't because it didn't.
Anyway, alot of large aircraft going into LGA fly over the southern part of the county depending on the wind. Aircraft going in and out of other regional airports may also be flying over the county so everyone needs to be prepared.
We've had this discussion before but since we're not really well prepared for any MCI, focusing on aircraft incidents specifically may not be prudent. What about buses, trains, boats, etc.?
Considering that most agencies have some degree of staffing problem that affects their ability to cover routine calls, we're going to have big problems at an MCI.

While I do agree that the Trooper was over the line in his actions, did you post this because you "bet folks might like an update" or because this is another opportunity for you to continue your anti-police agenda?

Fair enough, I can respect that, but maybe there is a more suitable forum to "liberally" question the practices of law enforcement instead of a board that is supposed to be pro-emergency services. It's one thing to ask why we do certain things a certain way, it's another to make judgements and then every police officer here has to defend the actions of our brothers.

Yes, quite the "famous" case... and I'm happy that you appreciated the update, but just because you were happy with the update doesn't justify the initial posters intentions when posting it. Unfortunately, the majority of the initial posters comments on here in regards to law enforcement are more often then not in a negative tone, and he has, on numerous occasions, played the "I know my rights" game, even when discussing topics of blatent officer safety.

Before i comment any further, i'm just going to say that you and i fundamentally disagree about this, and that's fine. Additionally, i don't know the area, situation or politics to comment specifically - my comments are general as they relate to greater issues (and i think that this is an issue for many communities).
I guess i just don't understand what you're proposing. Should we tell the residents who live in this area of question not to call 911 or that their emergencies are not emergencies? Does constantly responding to nursing homes, urgent care facilities or elderly living complexes over and over and over again wear on the provider? Sure it does. Just like going to automatic fire alarms wears on firefighters and responding to burglar alarms wears on police officers. That doesn't mean you don't have an obligation to respond and that doesn't mean that those emergencies are less important than a street job or those in a private residences. If this is not fair, don't volunteer. Volunteers have just as much an obligation as their career counterparts do to respond to emergencies - regardless of how big or how small/insignificant.
If a Somers EMT (using this name only for the sake of the discussion) is at home when his/her pager goes off and hears a job for heritage hills (insert any frequent location here) comes in and he/she doesn't go because of the location and this forces the medic or a security member to ride the job in or results in that job going mutual aid, then tell me - where does the problem lie? Is it with the caller? Is it with the Somers EMT?
This is not a Somers problem, this is a county-wide problem. As EMS runs go up - the hodge podge patchwork that is EMS in this county begins to tear at the seams. I think the issue is, is that these local solutions are just too expensive. Something is going to need to change at the county level before any of this goes away

Your insults against Law Enforcement would hold a lot more weight if you used proper grammar, spelling, understood the VTL as it pertains to the use of emergency lights and sirens by Law Enforcement vehicles, and cited the proper syllabus for the EVOC course, as ALS has so kindly pointed out to you.

I would assume if you are engaging in firematic duties, then you are working under the FD. If you are engaged in patient care activities, then you are working under the VAC. Go to the scene and stick with one or the other so you know who you are working under.

If you're doing it legally is the key statement... The idea of "soft billing", while not legal, is still practiced by local agencies.
