  1. To answer your question: every community Hatzalah is different. National and international chapters are not connected in any real way. All developed Hatzalahs have at least BLS capabilities. I'm sure in the more advanced chapters, ALS is certainly an option. The usual policy is that if they do not get enough of the right response in a minute or so from their members they call 911. Weather Conditions: Overcast. Description of Incident: Fully engulfed working fire on the first floor of a residential with two rescues, including one civilian fatality. Home was two-story brick and vinyl-sided as well as cluttered inside, but especially outside, which made extraction and search efforts more difficult. Originally dispatched to 4 MacArthur Dr., but address later corrected to 46 Havemeyer Lane. Caller was next-door neighbor reporting smoke coming out of windows. 3 HL/S/O, multiple ladders thrown, roof vented. Two occupants of building; one was elderly wheelchair-bound. Both transported to hospital. One victim died, the handicapped victim sustained serious burn injuries. Heavy fire damage to first floor, smoke damage to second floor. GPD and State Fire Marshal's Office are saying fire was deliberately set, but joint investigation continues. CBS reporting that it was a suicide attempt in defiance of those who were trying to stop their hoarding.   7. Town of Mamaroneck Open House Day on Oct. 13 from noon to 3 p.m. Kids will be able to try on fire gear, sit in fire trucks, explore the firehouse and participate in a simulation teaching them how to escape from a smoke-filled room. There will be hot dogs and soda.

  12. Very nice, but the American Red Cross and Salvation Army disaster canteens units have been performing this function for decades and have good relationships with the relevant authorities. Both organizations respond once requested, so as not to waste the efforts of their volunteers or complicate/annoy the efforts of the responders on the scene.

  21. Hi all, I was driving past the New Rochelle Fire Department Station #5 today and out of the corner of my eye I saw a white trailer with the lettering (that I saw) "New Rochelle OEM" and I think "... FEMA". Does anyone know what is inside of the trailer?
