There recently has been a site policy enacted to ban the posting of news articles or other information relating to people affiliated with emergency services who get into trouble unrelated to their career or volunteer role.

We feel threads such as the ones described above aren't appropriate for the forum and really have nothing to do with Emergency Services. Often, these threads just turn into a bash-fest, and are counterproductive.

This community aims to build camaraderie and relationships, to promote inter-agency cooperation, share information and ideas, and highlight the emergency services community.

Any new thread violating this new policy will be subject to deletion by the staff.

    Congrats to RWC130, EMTBravo's April 2014 MOTM.
RWC130 has been a member of EMTBravo since it's inception. He found out while we chatting on an ancient technology called "AOL IM" (real time computer chat app) while I was living in Woburn, MA and he was in Peekskill about starting a website. I quickly whipped up something small, he was the first visitor and the second to sign up, making him "Member Number 2" It's his dream just as much as it is mine. His loyalty has never wavered.
Throughout the 11 years of being members of the site, Rob has been a great advocate and champion for the site. He's been here during the great times, and the not so great time. He's developed numerous ideas that would help the site, and has promoted it in every way possible. Rob's nature makes the "Work Together - Win Together" motto of EMTBravo.com possible.

Aha! There they are. These bad boys are sitting outside the PSTF, last I recall. I brothers in Monroe County tell me these midi's get used at the academy for career classes and when vollie departments cannot produce an apparatus for a class.
As far as the RFD returning to the Q/M system, keep dreaming. It'll be a long time before the political structure of Rochester even considers it. They're having a tough enough time trying to NOT become the next Detroit!

What's horribly ironic is that the quint/midi concept was a cost saving measure that cut the number of firefighters and companies; from what I remember quint/midi houses were actually engine and truck houses with 8 guys total that then went to 6. And now, it was sold as look look, we're getting back to true engines and trucks. But once again, manpower was cut. Houses that had 6 now have 4.

100% true, though we wish it was false
The LDC is sent on "multiple calls" or receipts of a "working fire". LDC will act as Command, freeing up the BC to act as Ops. Most run of the mill house fires, BC will stay in Command, LDC will check it out, and return to quarters. LDC organizes all station staffing.
EDC Curran (in the photo) is C2. Any 2nd Alarm or greater, C1, C2...on down, is notified to respond. They most often serve as liason's.
That's a pic of Midi 6 and Midi 7 hanging out at the PSTF. They were originally Midi 4 and Midi 8. Once those Quint co.'s closed, thy were re-assigned to the busy and last Q/M's to close > M6 (North Clinton) and M7 (North Goodman). There was brief talk of stripping the Midi's completely, and replacing with 5 inch hose for large water supply. Obviously, it didn't happen. M6 and M7 remain at the academy for training purposes only.
Also, Rochester is a far cry from Detroit. In fact, a fairly financially stable city. City council posed possible FF cuts, for no reason at all really. They continue to dump money into the epically failing school system, in which their answer is to dump as much money as possible into it, maybe it will get better.

    Members,
I know I've changed titles around a lot in the past, but we are going forward in a new direction with this forum.
I've changed the "Director Of Operations" to the "Chief Of Operations" because that title is much more understandable to emergency services personnel.
With that said, Rob Casasanta (RWC130) has been appointed as EMTBravo's Chief Of Operations. Rob has been a member of this forum since it's inception (10 years), and is the second person registered after me. He is proud to be a member, has helped to get this site to where it is today, and has always given me sound advice and guidance. He is very diplomatic, which is something we need. He has some great ideas to expand the site, like heading up the EMTBravo Muster, and has continued to show great initiative and planning for a successful future. He wants the best for this site and it's members.
Rob has always been someone I trusted greatly, and is a true friend and has no "agenda". He is tolerant, understanding, caring, and honest. It has come time to appoint someone to be my equal should something happen to me health wise and to assure the future of the site. In the next few weeks, we will be forming a written partnership agreement regarding this. I will also be training him and providing him with what he needs to run the site (so, for example, we don't have downtime like we had in March).
I'd like to say thank you to Rob for always being there, through thick and thin. You're a great friend, and will make a great Chief Of Operations. Thank you for taking the load off my shoulders when I need you.
Now, to me. I will stay involved with the technical, financial, and development ends of the websites, so I will still be around as Deputy Chief Of Operations.
    Congrats!
