  2. Hi Admins,

Please change my Username from "Larchmont_Boy" to "Disaster_Guy".

My original request via email did not receive a reply. Several attempts at using the "Contact" tab above were unsuccessful. So, this is a last-ditch attempt.

Please delete this topic after task completion.

    Thanks!

    Hi guys,

I've had a rough couple of months.

I became critically ill in June while on a trip to Chicago, and was hospitalized in ICU intubated for several days.

A few days after I got home to Texas, same thing happened, I had a procedure to corrrect the problem, but while I was intubated I aspirated vomit somehome and came up with severe double pneumonia. Physically, I can only use the computer for a limited amount of time right now, and am still extremly weak but am getting better by the day.

I also apologize for not getting back to all those who hae been calling and emailing, it just gets a little overwhelming right now as I recover.

I have over 1,500 emails personally from friends, collegues, and EMTBravo members and related to me since May 26th, and eventually I will get to them all.

Thanks guys for your concern, and whatever help you can offer me. I hope that some of you guys can come up and hang out with me when I get back.

  3. Also consider it for what purpose you are putting a signature on it. If it is in a non-descript area, it could easily be cropped out and re-used. For demo purposes, I would recommend putting it somewhere that it partially gets in the way, and if someone REALLY wants a good copy, have to contact the original person direct.

That or a good Watermark software.

  4. Disgraceful.... I have never been a fan of Gov. Christie or his policies since Day 1. He just doesn't give a crap. I am having trouble finding one video I saw a couple months ago as he tried to dance around questions regarding salary cuts, and questioning him about cutting his own, or his staff's salaries. Really kind of summed it up for me.

  5. Excellent concept and it would be a great resource. It would take some additional training to ensure that similar things that happened with pilots as technology improved and then HUD's doesn't happen which often was information overload. As far as the fingertip thing, I think its another tool for a group leader or officer to have to assist them with what they do. Interested in knowing a little more why you think taking it away would make it better.

The other things aside from information overload, is the over-reliance on the technology to compensate for inability to actually see. I have seen it too many times already with TIC's. People walk/crawl around with them almost attached to their faces, and almost solely rely on that to navigate/work.

I can see people become TOO reliant on this type of a system they will lose/forget their other senses (including common sense) on how to read and interpret their surroundings.

I do like the concept, I just think your average structural fire may have a bit too much going on to properly use all the functions/features available.

  6. Care 1 use to be hudson valley paramedics and the closest office is in fishkill on rt 9 and yes they normally have a rig down this way.

Uh, did you read any of the previous posts. I think it is well established who they are, and where they operate out of. Just sayin'

  7. Some interesting points brought up. Although not everyone thinks that being canceled is the worst thing in the world. Going out to that AFA at 3AM in the middle of a storm, winter or otherwise, sometimes its better to just get returned instead of being out on the road and continuing in. I have heard some departments that continue apparatus in just to fill out a report. There is an IC on the scene, but they bring a typical response in just to fill out paperwork.

Understand your thoughts are for 'ideal conditions', just saying that sometimes, probably more with volunteer departments. Some people have to/want to get back home to dinner, their loved ones, or work (for those decreasing employers that allow people to leave work to attend alarms).

A GREAT resource I have found that posts a lot of "Hey, look what I found during a Medical Assist or AFA call" is:

    http://www.vententersearch.com/

Lots of stories, and pictures of interesting things found, and the "oh my God that is insane" ones are nice to learn from as well. Really gives you an idea to keep all your senses about you on EVERY run.

  8. I gotta say....I'm a little disappointed to read some of the comments that are written here. Why are we so excited to see this movement broken up? You don't have to agree with everything they're saying or rallying for down there. You also don't have to like the people who are doing it, BUT it's nice to see a little activism. It's nice to see people pushing back against the establishment because it's our constitutional right. The basis of this action is very similar to the founding of this country. Lets not be so quick to get excited that they're being "shut down".

Just as much as the people down there are permitted to Peacefully Assemble under the First Amendment, so are the people here allowed to have their own opinions, and express them, under Free Speech (the same amendment).

Everyone is entitled to have their own opinions. I get disappointed listening to politicians and some of the things they write/say/promise.

  10. At least as of right now, you have a whopping choice of an 11.6" Acer, or 12.1" Samsung model.

Understandably it is not designed to be a full-fledged "do it all" laptop/computing system, but personally, I would like to see a few more options/models/sizes before considering.

All in all, its still a "new product" out there on the market that is going to catch some attention from those looking to get away from "the norm" of choices.
