  3. with all due respect with a commentary like this would you hire you? I'm a very average test taker Myself, I began taking civil service tests in the late 70's... I blew off quite a few because its hard to "play games" and work for a living especially driving a truck interstate locallyand be available to jump through the hoops.. I took 3 tests in one week in 1985 and Passed and actually was hired for 2 of the 3 jobs, one was dispatching which i worked nearly 4 years waiting to get on the job. assuming you have tryed beating yourself in the forehead you have to keep in mind SC, Ga, AL,NC, FL and similar "right to work states" are NOT the same as other places.. they're paying MUCH less with little or 0 benefits... get on the websiites FE, FH magazines have hiring pages as emt bravo has here.. INDEED ,com, craigslist (regional Government ) jobs..I would personally consider the Pacific NW, less Seattle in the surrounding regions, arizona , new mexico texas you can always apply here (below too) Detroit is hiring.....   4. They held a test Last year for this job, It actually never said that test expired, Imagine what it cost to hold a written for 1200-1800 people, score and do all the mailings for 5 or 10 openings

Mind you I dont live down there I don't know any dispatchers down there, I after reading your posts highlighting all the tests/applications your making down there I frankly was surprised you didnt research it before you Committed.... anyway I went On Line and looked, found the information, Naturally I went back yesterday and wasnt able to find the specific PDF I was reading the previous day... I see it like this , Fairfax was oneof the first Big Mergerswith federal Jing, It stands to reason its going to take some "getting used to" and maybe ever a couple of Directors To "get it done Right" Many Traditional ops up here are still dealing with problems of "Conglomeration" anyway I know guys on the job down there and it is what it is..Like I said within the complex it sure seems Like they tryed to do it right...... just gotta remain thinking No one wants to be a dispatcher as a career, lol (Click those heels 3 times)

I read the PDF quickly with all the money they spent on the Comm center it seems like They sorta care about the employees, The floor is HUGE like 20 fire and 20 Cops dispatchers seems the opens up the 1998/99 they have a Gym facility on premises, Kitchen second to none a huge courtyard "relaxation zone" and so on and so forth...by the time you get to the study page 26 of 35 , Big Turnover and Pay it the primary reason No one wantgs to be a dispatcher for 20 years+ and Make 15,000 grand a year supposedly the work force is getting close to 20% empty the Number of "lost calls" is creeping up and the number of Civilian Complaints about getting service is rising to agencies IN the county....
  7. ??? the answer to Part 2 is Yes there is aspecific Residency for dispatchers that isnt exactly the same as for firefighters as Far as Part one is concerned.... I doubt anyone Can speak for the actual City as to how they might discriminate, as an OUT of Stater who took the last FAD test I can tell you I Placed well in the top 100 but didnt get called (Haha) kinda glad

Which is why I also Posted That Boston also recently Appointed The daughter of Lt Kevin Kelly assigned to ladder 26 who was Killed In the line of duty returneing from a run, the brakes on the apparatus failed, Crashed into a building Killing the Loo. who was Known from the Tv series In the 90's featuring The BFD., I personally considered taking the FAO test up there to at least hone some rusty skills, But I'm glad of the outcome... And for "INIT" Not 100% sure myself, going strickly by the Media article.. though I'm Sure contact with the Training division could define if not answer you query. My point In posting this is for all the Bad thats going on Nationally, Wisconsin, North Las Vegas, California , Scranton PA., Detroit Michigan and More,.   9. I've been away from Providence over the last 20 years (when they ran with 3 "busses" so things may have Changed though I doubt it... Then You got On and you were on the rescue Until someone below you replaced you.. You seriously believe I am going to prefer the ambulance to Being assigned either of the tower ladders Hahaha sorry... and the next issue is you spend 10 years slugging out every shift and you "test your way out become a Lt. and get stuck on the ambulance until the next Junior guy gets stuck, hahaha

Afro American, Latin/Hispanic, and Women... which are activly recruited but No one Bothers to stop in a Laotion or Cambodian residence and advise them they are elligible, (it would take away from the major minorities to recognize the true minorities.. its sad... I'm Happy to see PFD and the City are at least starting with a level playing field... Beyond that lets not forget Providence (metro) is also regularly dealing with Folks from all over SE mass Attleboro to New Bedford and up in the blackstone too these folks live work & play side by side, I dunno Its been a while for me...

Thats a pile of Crap too, I've applyed each of the last 3 times its been posted in the last couple years and with 4 years of previous dispatch experiance , and a referance from a NON Cop... and I have had NO response to nothing... I type 30 wpm I was ncic and collect qualified Before these guys knew what thats meant. I am a retiree with quite a number of years in public safety in the state.. Sothats a line of BS , I have a considerable amount of time before I reach "retirement age" and Have been testing... yet NORWALK has blown me off 3 times in two years... Haha

Who do you dispatch? hahaha You dispatch the 1st responders these Facilities have Fire and EMS services but Mutual aid Can be a b**** and water supply too, Imagine starting a fire to melt snow to put out a fire.. sorta catch 22... I'll look around I have seen either referances to the FIREFIGHTING JOB or photos of apparatus that they use ( maybe both).. Just make sure you DRain that pump, and circulate water using tank drain and FIll ..lol OH MY GOD check out the seperate NEW post , while Checking this out 2 things happened 1 I found job posting for Firefighters and Officers as well as lowly dispatcher...and 2 the mail Came including My elegibility final score For FAD exam 1005 very typically I scored 75.875 and have 99 people in front of me I'm, astounded.. these tests NO matter what I try to do this is so freakin typical hahahaha
