A scathing letter about the subject: http://www.yonkerstribune.com/2016/01/letter-to-the-editor-a-scathing-letter-by-michael-j-ward

Hawthorne FD EMS just got dispatched to Pleasantville again. This is becoming a daily occurrence, and has been going on for quite a while now.
Why not call Transcare, Empress, WEMS or Care one and have them post a bus in the area until this is resolved? I'm sure they'd be happy to oblige until Pleasantville can start billing and hire paid staff as mentioned above. But I guess they technically have paid staff already by using Hawthorne's paid crew so much.
And don't knock me for bringing this up. Anybody monitoring the radios can hear this going on for themselves.

1. Pleasantville is currently taking steps to cover costs to pay for per diem EMTs. The annual budget for PVAC is $169k - to cover costs to run (3) ambulances and a rehab unit - not to mention equipment, insurance, etc.
I will be more than glad to answer any further questions you may have.
2 questions.
Does Pleasantville bill?
And has the bid been awarded to WEMS or Empress yet?
-
Most of the membership and officers were at Pleasantville's installation dinner during this call.

Congrats Empress! Didn't they hold the New Rochelle contract in the past as well?

I've heard Hawthorne numerous times over the past couple of weeks going mutual aid to Pleasantville for EMS calls.
Does Hawthorne have a paid crew for their ambulance? Do they send them on mutual aid? If they do send the EMT's Hawthorne pays for, are the Hawthorne taxpayers footing the bill to cover all these Pleasantville calls, technically giving Pleasantville free paid staff?
-
Dual response is not mutual aid.
I disagree. Dual response IS mutual aid for at least one of the agencies. Dual responses are usually because one district doesn'thave enough manpower or equipment to respond on their own. If departments charged for dual response, they could earn tens of thousands of dollars.

I wonder who signed the RMA? That's got to be several crimes right there.
And shouldn't this be a WCPD investigation? It was on county property.

Did the Field Com respond to the Haz-Mat incident in Ossining today?

Armonk FD has contracted Westchester EMS to supply 1 EMT for Monday thru Friday, 7:00AM to 7:00PM. Perhaps you are hearing the full crew tones when this EMT is not in service.
I understand that from previous posts on this thread. I am hearing tones for full crews from 7AM to 7PM, which is why I am asking why the EMT would not be in service.

Is this contract still in effect? I've heard Armonk toning for a full crew several times this week.

This new law found in General Municipal Law (GML) authorizes Paramedics and EMTs to transport injured police work dogs to appropriate facilities provided that there are no persons requiring medical attention or transport at such time

Was it just an eyeshade accounting error, or something more nefarious?
Welcome to Yonkers where you cant follow the money without a treasure map and an X that marks the spot a bottomless rabbit hole.
The latest money mystery involves the citys contention that as many as 60 former firefighters who retired on disability have been receiving lucrative overpayments in pension benefits, totaling $2.2 million going back to 2009.
How this happened is now the subject of a probe by the city Inspector General Brendan J. McGrath.

Gov. Andrew Cuomo has signed into law legislation to put more teeth into existing laws protecting emergency medical technicians and other first responders from being assaulted on the job.

GRAND RAPIDS, MI -- Cory Hohs' idea was inspired by a close call with a Chicago fire truck on his motorcycle, but his new app, which warns drivers to the presence of emergency vehicle traffic, is being tested first in Grand Rapids.

I used to see 60 Control's Fieldcom at every major incident when they first got it. I don't think I've seen it on a scene in years? Do they still run it?

The company responsible for providing many Hudson Valley communities with ambulance service is having a hard time paying its employees. -
Was 60 Control's Fieldcom there?

Hey everyone! This is a fundraising page for one of our own, Paramedic Rich Lang who has fallen ill. We are trying to raise funds to help ofset medical costs and to help out with bills due to him being unable to work.
Feel free to donate here or come to the 10-13 Get Together on March 7, 2015 at Barney McNabbs (Tuckahoe Rd, Yonkers, 6PM). The 10-13 will have a $15 admission fee at the door (includes food) with the option to buy a $5 bracelet.
All proceeds from the 10-13 and all the funds from this site will be going directly to Rich. So no matter what you can spare, big or small, let's get together and show him how much we care!

Don't leave us in suspense. Was it a bee sting or a bee swarm with multiple victims?
I doubt it was serious. The 60 Control dispatcher was outright laughing while dispatching the call and didn't give any further information other then a "bee sting". It would have been nice to know when dispatched if there was an anaphylactic reaction, multiple victims, any hazards to responder like a swarm, and the such.

What if? What if? What if?
You can "what if" things to death and the bottom line always seems to be we respond to the call we have. We don't decline to respond so we can remain available for the call that we MAY get.
What if Engines 131 and 134 are on another FIRE call when your hypothetical structure fire comes in across town? Does it matter that the call is EMS or FIRE? It shouldn't. It's still our customer calling for help.
It DOES matter when a Peekskill Firefighter has to take his fire engine out of service, get into a flycar, respond to the neighboring jurisdiction, and ride in a call BLS because the VAC can't get an EMT.
Our whole business is based on "What If?". It matters when our customers call for help that we have the right resources available to send them in a timely manner. The problem here is that those resources are being improperly utilized. And, because of that, when our customers call, they may be waiting an dangerously long time for an ambulance or a fire apparatus to get there.
What's the long term solution to all of this?

I'll say it again, Peekskill is a ticking time bomb.
But what is being done to de-fuse the bomb?
