  1. Do our local departments have any programs in place to address this issue?? http://www.rocketnews.com/topic/world/Poli...gt-Chuck-Cross/
  2. Then you are definitely talking about a safety issue for both the Photographer and the emergency personnel on scene. I don't think anyone(especially from this website) would want to interfere at a fire scene to get a shot. We all can act professionally. But I guess we all have seen those that do not.
  3. Well said Bill!
  4. Was the idea of your original post to discuss HIPAA laws or to discuss the action of those who take pictures at fire scenes? Perhaps your post was not understood right? You certainly have touched a few nerves!! If you're just talking about safety at a fire scene then of course you always have to think about where you are, where you should be, and what or who you are taking pictures of. And that also goes to the sensitivity issue that was brought up by ann11682.
  5. Agree 100%! And lets not forget those equally obnoxious "horns" (or whatever they are) that they sell that annoys me like nails on a blackboard!
  6. They could probably use a little more logic at FDMV! Live long and prosper!
  7. OK. I'll try to explain this question. My wife works in Manhattan and has described to me what she and her co-workers respectfully call a "police parade." I witnessed one of these myself near Times Square on Monday. It is a line of at least 8 marked units some with lights and sirens on that pull up and park along a street and then stay there for a while. Some of the PO's stay in the car, some get out and stand outside. Eventually, they all move on with lights and sirens as if they are in a escort but there is no apparent escort vehicle. She says this happens almost every day. My first guess was an escort for a dignitary or something like that, but that doesn't seem to be right. My other guess was just a kind of "show of force" as part of maybe an anti terror task force or mobilization. These do seem to take place in Times Square, Rockefeller Center etc.. Any NYPD members out there that can explain what this is?
  8. This was horrible! Saw it on the news last night. How can any "normal" human being just walk away and leave this woman lying on the floor? Unless the video is edited, you don't see anyone even go over to check on the poor woman to see if she is OK! Not security, doctors, nurses or even the other patients sitting in the chairs in the waiting room!!! Inexcusable! Imagine if that was one of your relatives! What is wrong with people?
  9. What does CRV stand for?
  10. Somehow I knew you would have a response for me The only thing to me though is it just seems like a huge commitment to valuable resources. Do you think it's worth it? When I saw this on Monday, there were two separate details; one on seventh avenue in Times Square that wasn't moving and another that was moving East on 42nd street, both at the same time.
  11. I didn't always agree with his politics either but couldn't help laughing anyway! Got to see him live twice here in the County. Once at Iona College and once at the old Capitol Theatre in Portchester. Now I wish I had seen him in Peekskill last year at the Paramount. RIP George.
  12. Maybe MVFD can "borrow" the horses to pull the apparatus to fires? Save on gas? And the broken down firehouses can be used as barns!
  13. Hey what exactly are the "Traffic" designated units dispatched on Westchester County PD? Are they part of a aggressive driving detail?
  14. I believe those are referred to as "Parks"units right?
  15. Yeah thats kind of how I see it. I don't get on the computer everyday so sometimes I use the IA's as a way to sort of "catch up" on an incident that I may have missed.
  16. God speed and be safe!!!! Let's be careful out there!
  17. It seems that Cablevision doesn't carry that channel right now.
  18. Check the link from the previous post. It has a search you can use to find out if your cable system has the channel.

  20. I'm thinking about finally replacing my "antique" base scanner with the Uniden 898. Can anyone give some feedback on this unit pro or con? I know the 996 is probably better but a little out of my price range right now. Also where would you recommend buying it? I believe Amazon had the lowest price. Thanks in advance!!
  21. Regarding the software, I use a Mac. Do you know if any of the software is Mac compatible? I've never been able to find any.
  22. Wow! I'm certainly no Ted Kennedy fan but you guys are Cruel! I guess a "higher authority"will judge him soon enough.
  23. Found this engine at a small construction site near my condo complex. Probably being used just for water supply. Its a 1977 E One but has no other markings except for "75" that is still visible on the front under the windshield. There were no construction workers around today to ask about it but if I find out any more info I will definitely post it here. It could be from anywhere but I was wondering if there was a small chance that someone might recognize it?
  24. Do you know when it went out of service?
  25. It is. It is in great shape when you get up next to it. Especially for a 30 year old rig.
