For anyone who was hoping to hear back from Stamford, interviews were scheduled and quickly cancelled.
Possibly relating to a 53-year old Stamford volunteer filing a federal lawsuit against the city over age discrimination

It'll be interesting to see how this plays out.

I'm taking my second polygraph in two weeks for a federal agency. According to my examiner who was a Special Agent, I didn't fail but my results were "inconclusive". It was more or less an interrogation honestly and left me with a bad taste in my mouth. The guy was nice for the most part but did threaten me with "your whole federal career is on the line" crap. I know that if you fail a polygraph and admit to certain things they could black list you from federal employment for life. I had to sign a form that stated something along the lines of "anything you say during the polygraph can and will be used against you." I know that's vague but I assume that answers your question? Oh and by the way it was the worst 7+ hours of my life. I'm not looking forward to round 2.

Any clue what departments sent people for the cpat this last round? or better yet plans on hiring for this next class?

Glad I passed on this one.

With all the investigations going on by local, state ad federal investigatiors, it seems handy to me that a huge record storage structure holding perhaps damaging files should be completely consumed. A small fire was started at about 0430 was extinguished by the sprinkler system and FD responded , now perhaps at 0430 the system could not be restored. and the sprinkler system shut off .fully or in part, Now at 0600 the FD returns to a heavy involved structure the size of several football fields. I think this is more sinister then a rekindle. just my two cents

Anybody know how far New Rochelle got down their list with the last hiring they did ? If they didn't get very far I doubt it'd be worth it for non-residents like me too even test.
I'm wondering the same thing. =\ I understand the residency thing but damn it sucks!
-
I'm still gonna take the test, why not. It's just frustrating to score highly on the exam and watch guys with 80's and even lower get hired because they live in a 4 square mile area. But hey, best man for the job right ?
Yea the residency preference thing sucks. They should have some type of physical fitness portion also which is weighed.

It's all about the money

Word on the street is the city doesn't have enough people to open apps... Don't expect the city to be proactive with this entire process.
What do you mean?

Anyone know if any other cities in CT plan on hiring/giving exams during the 2015 year?
-
This is nuts it seems like the cops were showing far to much restraint.
-
Am I reading this announcement correctly? No cut off age?
-
No longer a brownout, It's now a complete blackout
What is the endgame for PCFD? Full volunteer department or just a 1 paid rig department?
-
I know neither use the county list but they have people in the current academy which is the same academy used by the county.

So who did hire this class ? Peekskill and Port Chester didn't go through anyone else ?
I only know of Mount Vernon for sure and I think I heard Yonkers.
-
Port Chester never hired. They shafted the 4 that went all the way only to be told F you 3 days before the class started Engine 59 shut down no men and no rig .
I thought Engine 59 worked nights to cover Rye Brook?

I didn't see this mentioned here but when I handed my application in for this exam on the last official filing date. The lady in the office told me they had extended the deadline a number of days due to a lack of residents signing up for the exam.
The physical agility is usually 6 - 12 months before the list is certified and any hiring can begin. The academy normally runs spring & fall and has no relationship with the test. remember their are multiple lists (Westchester T&V, MV, NR, WP plus LB & GC and Dutchess) that send to the academy.
What does LB & GC stand for? Sorry if it seems like a dumb question just curious.
-
Port Chester has been browning out Engine 59 for a while now to the point that it is just about shut down . Once 16 men,now 5 men.
What happened to the other 11 men?

Thanks for the info it is very much appreciated.

I received a letter yesterday stating I passed the exam no score or anything. I wonder if Mt. Vernon hires non-residents for FD?
-
Took the test and still waiting on results.
-
I got a letter a while ago stating that I passed the exam but I wouldn't be receiving my exam score due to not being a resident of White Plains. Apparently they have enough passing residents who will get priority and they think it is very unlikely of them to reach the non-resident list.

I guess You've never heard of Auxiliary police officers? Most departments have them including Port Chester, they are pretty much volunteer cops.
