  1. Does anyone know how many chiefs cars glenham F.D. has? Just wondering.
  2. O, thats what replaced garrisons old international. Is it a brush truck with a pump and all or is it just a utility truck? Either way good for them.
  3. on post number 9 whos brush truck is the red one on the second one in between the forest rangers truck and north highlands brush truck
  4. If anyone knows, fort montgomery fire department bought new citys old boat, does anyone know what fort montgomery plans to do with there old boat (a smaller version of N.C.F.D.'s old boat) keep it or sell it? And does fort montgomery still OWN the 1969 diamond reo pumper or is that gone too? Any info is greatly apprieciated, steve.
  5. And dont forget its hard for a car company to cut something thats been around for 50+ years, why do ya think the suburban and corvette have been around all this time. They are part of GM history and pride.
  6. A 454! Thats awesome! That too was a very powerful engine for back in the day
  7. I would probably stick with the diesel, the V-10 is however a powerful engine. Just a little history lesson here, the V-10 replaced the 460, the 7.5l ford big block back in 1998 and ford only made the 460 strictly as a work engine though they did put them in lincolns years ago. Believe it or not they did put the 460 in the F-750's (like brewsters hose truck) back in the 90's. And what a work engine it was, but I guess with dodges V-10 they needed something to compete with that and over the years with ford using old technology such as the 460 they needed a change and the V-10 6.8l was born. Though I still like the classic 460, I have driven my uncles motorhome with the V-10 and in tech school I had a friend with a 1997 ford f-350 5 speed with a 460 and the V-10 had more power but like most older engines the 460 had more torque. sorry if I began to ramble, anyways ford should really think about puttin that new 6.4l into the ambulances (type 2's and 3's) that would be a smart move that is a powerful engine with 350 H.P. and over 400 pound-foot torque, thats good stuff, especially when someones life depends on it!
  8. Thats exactly what we put on our new smeal pumper because we have alot of low bridges in our town it would not fit under if it had the traditional deck gun. Nice rig by the way!
  9. O, you guys traded the '99 in, thanks for the speedy reply. Nice rig by the way, I like the colors and stripes on the sides looks good
  10. I dont know if this will get answered but what does this rig replace if anything? Thank you for your time.
  11. what will happen to the ambulance that it replaced?
  12. What did they do with the 2001 ford pick up, sell it or keep it as a utility? Nice suburban by the way, I wish my department would use those as chiefs cars.
  13. OH, O.K., getting rid of the 1999 I gather?
  14. what does it replace, are they getting rid of anything?
  15. Hey guys, I see pound ridge is getting a new pumper to replace the ford/pierce E-111. This can be seen at gowansknight.com at the work in progress page. I was wondering since I did not see anything regarding this, or if there is I did not see it. Are they getting rid of the 1978 ford/pierce or just rolling it over to another role? Just courious. And on a side note do they still have U-26, the 1990's chevy suburban? I tried to find someone from pound ridge to P.M. but I could not, so sorry to anyone who I angered by starting this thread. Thank you for your time, steve.
  16. HFD, I cant think of a better way to word it I'M with you 110%. Especially your last sentence.
  17. Yea, I agree with you guys dont kill them that is to easy for them. But torture them, make them work 2 days straight without sleep, dont feed them for hours on end, make there lives an absolute living hell like they did there victims and especially there victims families.
  18. So is the company going to own the FWD like the 1935 seagrave or is the FWD just owned by a couple of members?
  19. Ya know, that aint a bad idea. Good thinkin'
  20. You guys in yonkers gotta get the chrome alcoas on the trailer, I bet it would REALLY look sharp then! Not that it does not now. I do like the color scheme of the trailer itself. All in all if my opinion means anything I think you guys did a terrific job with the color deco. Good luck with it. P.S. I've been pushing for a tractor trailer tanker in my department ever since I joined, but I dont think thats going to happen!
  21. why is that moggie6? Like, how can they justify that?
  22. O.K. O.K. mfkap not being hostile now. With all due respect (speaking with a soft voice) I did not say we made it through the great depression with all our big buisnesses intact, I said we made it through tough times such as in the 1980's when things were not so hot with the stock market. Dont forget we did lose alot of big railways between 1929 and 1945. And I was just using the $40000 honda as an example of a ''monopoly''. Other than that I cant speak for much else but like you said to me you are entitled to your opinions. Sorry if I offended you.
  23. I bet you are one of these people who run around and say ''the world is coming to an end'' and ''we are in the worst economic depression in history''! Just one question, how did the USA make it through other tough times with all its big buissinesses still intact? Didn't hear ya say anything about what is going on with the japanese companies? Like I said before they are feeling it just as bad and if the government does let as you say the big 3 go down than expect to pay $40000+ for a honda civic because then the japanese companies know that they got us, ''where else you gonna go'' and our economy will be shot to hell all over again. Everyone tells me that toyotas are more american built than any other car company. If that is true than I guess that they are going to go under as well with all that ''american backing''. So I guess in 10 years when everything is all said and done and detroit is closed up and toyota does not make any money here and goes back to japan only, to sell vehicles, the only vehicles that will be here are nissian and honda. Well at least I will be able to outrun the cops in my fine american ford 5.0L! I'M done with you say whatever you'd like.
  24. You really think that the united states government is going to let that happen? let me ask you some thing what are cars made out of? steel, which is one of our biggest resorces in this country and if the government lets them dwindle to nothing our economy will go with it because our autos are a big export and do make us alot of money overseas, especially in the municipal fields. You dont think that the ricer companys are feeling this as well? They had to lay off many factory workers too. The economy will get better eventually and if you dont believe me look at the stock market crash and the depression we pulled through those and we will pull through this as well. Maybe obama has a couple of good ideas, I didn't vote for him but hey anythings possible.
  25. A few months ago croton fire was supposed to get some sort of utility vehicle or fly car from some money coming from the village board? I was just wondering if that ever happened and if it did what kind of vehicle is it and whats its designation? Also, are the ambulances run by croton F.D. or croton E.M.S. now? Thank you for your time, steve.
