  1. I also found an updated picture of Pelham's old ladder truck, in service at the Pelham Fire Department in Pelham, New Hampshire. http://www.nefirenews.com/nh/PelhamNHL1.jpg
  2. Just browsin the web and came across Yorktown's old mini attack...I believe it was called smokey Now in Huntersland Fire Department in Schoharoe County. Check it out: http://cnyfiretrucks.com/gh/HunterslandB9051.jpg While im at it, found Verplancks old Snorkel in the Middleburgh Fire Department, same county as above. http://cnyfiretrucks.com/mn/MiddleburghT1281.jpg

  4. I believe all of that auxillary equipment is stationed at the Yonkers shops, and that the rig is also referred to as a "high water rescue" unit. If im not mistaken, Greenwich PD once owned, or still owns a similar unit.
  5. It's funny that this should come up, considering I was just talking about this with Firefighter57 the other day...I dont believe that Bedford Highway had much, or any use for it. This truck, which actually was not garaged, has been sitting for months outside rusting at the Adams street highway department lot.It is assumed that the truck could still be used as a back up tanker for Bedford Hills, and I say assumed because the tank may be leaking
  6. You are right, North Castle DPW does run an older Oshkosh modified P series truck with a plow and right hand wing. The unit also has a combination sander/deicing body, and seems to only be used for snow removal. I thought I would never be able to see this truck in action, living on the back roads at the edge of the "district" lines, but two years ago, the truck passed my house with the wing in action Although not classic snow monsters, in Bedford, the town subcontracts to Fancher Excavating and Halpin Excavating where a 2000 Kenworth T-800 tri-axle dump and a 1980's GMC General tri-axle dump run in tandem with 12' plows to clear the main roads (State DOT clears these roads as well).
  7. It is a good idea, but what about having someone like the Red Cross staff it? (Or other help organizations around the area). Out on the Cape they have a local Red Cross chapter that provides support services on long calls with a disaster relief/canteen truck. http://www.capecodfd.com/Pics%20Stations/1...apter%20Hya.jpg
  8. WOW nice shots of the trucks, especially the Macks. Where, exactly, is the location of all those antique trucks? Also, does the collector have any fully restored pieces of apparatus?

  10. Heres a similar story... Although the guy isint actually a firefighter, he built his home to replicate a fire house with two bays, and has a 1950's Ford chief car as well as Boston's Engine 21, a Mack B model. Check it out: http://www.firenews.org/cullenhouse.html
  11. I believe the Armonk electrician brothers stopped the lights after the events of September 11th (I believe they donated money in exchange for putting up the lights). But man, when I was younger, that was the BEST place.
  12. Bedford Central School District has two or three new Chevrolet and GMC mini buses that they are trying them out on...for one thing, they are BRIGHT! Is there any association with a roof mounted light and an on board camera system? (Just wondering)
  13. Do you know where that rig is from? Not that it is in that picture, but I believe Chicago Fire Department has or had a similar system set up. Basically a short wheelbased truck with a high flow deluge gun or monitor mounted on the back. I believe it is referred to as a turret wagon. If its the one im thinking of, its unit 675, a 1975 Mack MB tractor that was retrofitted with the apparatus.
  14. Heres another example of a tractor trailer tanker set up (6200 gallons): http://www.fdnytrucks.com/images/otherstat...endaleT5050.jpg and another (8000 gallons) http://www.fdnytrucks.com/images/otherstat...oveTwpT23-5.jpg Also, there are quite a few departments in New Jersey with this same configuration. You would wonder about the manuverability though....
  15. I was browsing through Hartsdale's website when I found two shots of a helicopter crash. It looked to be on a parkway, and the helicopter appears to be from a police agency. Does anyone know or remember anything about this incident? Heres the links to the photos: http://www.hartsdalefire.com/Memorable%20C...helicopter1.jpg http://www.hartsdalefire.com/Memorable%20C...helicopter2.jpg
  16. DA Buff- A little while back I posted a topic on Ford C's Heres the link: http://emtbravo.net/index.php?showtopic=9737
  17. The funny thing is---I just happened to be browsing through some pics and found one perfect for this fourm. Although I need someone to verify this, I think I found a pic of Croton Fire Patrols old Rescue 18 (a 1963 Mack). Take a look: http://rides.webshots.com/photo/1017100534...47197RzVtppwfge
  18. Not metro area....but Banksville, a station across the NY/CT line for Greenwich, runs a 1976 Maxim F Model 85' mid mount stick, open cab. (Ladder 77). Quoting X615 below, my department (Bedford Village, NY) used to run a 1968 Maxim S water supply truck up until the year 2000 (Engine 108). The truck is now placed at the fire museum in Hudson, NY.
  19. I actually included this video in a fire safety presentation that I did a little while back...this is why you always have to be careful and know what you are doing before you actually do it.
  20. Bedford is Friday October 13th
  21. *The set in Rescue 44 are run off of a fixed generator while the set in Engine 110 runs off of a portable.
