  1. It is a Motorola type II. Additional info can be found at RadioReference. You may have to enter base, step and offset settings because it is a UHF system. Some trunktracking scanners do not need these settings for 800MHz systems if they have control channel tracking.
  2. The last airing scheduled will be Saturday 10/22 @ 4PM.
  3. Try FDNY Apparatus Locations, this will show you the location of the Company's quarters. NYCFire.net had something similar, but the site says it had a server crash.
  4. Next Wed. 10/18 NYSAFC will be presenting a seminar featuring Battalion Chief John Salka, FDNY at the Rockland County Fire Training Center. Seminar will be on Fireground Responsibility. I have been to several of these the past couple of years and they are worth it. I attended a seminar by Chief Salka many years ago and he gives a great presentation. Link can be found at NYSAFC Seminar.
  5. Driving by BMFD HQ this morning I saw their new Utility on the ramp. Looks very similar to the County issued Squad Support Units-Ford MiniBuses. What function(s) will this unit provide for BMFD? And where will it be stationed?
  6. Here is the web link Harmon Shop Open House 2006
  7. They have U23, I've seen it a couple of times on its way to the Training Center. Ford or Chevy chassis with a small box style.
  8. From The Journal News legal section 9/15/06 "Sealed bids for the Village of Port Chester, Port Chester, New York for: One Rear Mount 105 foot Aerial Ladder Truck will be received and opened...on Thursday, September 28, 2006 no later than 2:00PM."
  9. Try entering 46.26 on another channel to see if there is a problem with that channel. I had that problem on a Bearcat 100 many years ago. Verify that the channel is not locked out. Lastly, there may be an antenna problem, if possible try another antenna.
  10. From The Journal News legal section 9/11/06 "Public notice is hearby given that sealed bids will received by the Village of Tarrytown, Tarrytown, NY, 10591 for two new firehouses...untill 11:00AM prevailing time on Friday September 29, 2006 at which time they will be publicly read aloud."
  11. Another more indepth 9/11 timeline can be viewed at 911Timeline.net
  12. Fire Tone Out is a feature that will mimic your pager in activating the scanner just like a pager. The draw back from what I read is that you can not scan while in Tone Out mode. Basically you are making your scanner another pager. You cna either scan or set it in Tone Out mode.
  13. I believe you may be right, it does not just apply to trunked systems.
  14. My understanding of APCO P25 is that it is designed as a standard so that various radio manufacturers equipment will work with other brands of equipment. An example would be if a customer installed a Motorola P25 trunked system then Kenwood, Icom or any other brand would be able to operate on that P25 system. This does not seem to be the case so far. The reasoning for this is that if Motorola equipment is the only radio able to use a Motorola system, then Motorola effectively can charge the customer whatever it wants to, because you are locked into using Motorola equipment. Conversely, if P25 is in fact implemented then Kenwood, Icom or any other brand would be able to work on the Motorola P25 system. The same problem is now happening with MA/Com systems.
  15. Or there might be confusion re: Ladder 37 - Conqueror H&L's E-One and Washington Engine's TL 78 - ALF. T'Town now has two truck co's., TL78 used to be E78 with a 1980? Hahn.
  16. Digital vs Analog systems are what are available for systems. Westchester new trunked system will be analog while Rocklands will be digital. Digital scanners are more expensive than analog. The best site I've found for the info you are looking for is RadioReference.com
  17. Confetti, lots & lots of confetti.
  18. Tonights episode of Made in America on the Travel Channel is on Hale Products-Hurst. Tonights episode airs at 9PM and tomorrow morning at 12AM. Additional airing this Sat. 8/5 at 4PM.
  19. The ByLaws of the Company I belong to (like other Company's in the Department) require new members to purchase a uniform witin 90 days of acceptance into the Company. A reason for expulsion is "...failure to procure a uniform...". I enjoy, and spent twenty years, marching in parades until I was told that the uniform I got out of the dry cleaners four hours before the start of a parade was so "wrinkled" I would not be allowed to march. Since that day I have not marched in a single parade. My feeling is when a Department marches in more parades than it has training drills provided for its members, the priorities are not where they need to be.
  20. Westchester Department of Emergency Services just got a new updated look for its website. Bolder and brighter look. Also update of the Westchester County Battalion Zones including the new zone cofigurations and Coordinators.
  21. I just did a database search of the forums membership. There are 8 members listed as affiliated with the FD in question. Five are Verified Members of which one is listed as an Assistant Chief and one as an Ex-Chief. I think we need to hear from the "Brass" of this FD to see what their policies are rather than everyone trying to instill in this kid the Right Thing To Do. If it is policy problem within this FD then the kid would not know any better than what he has been taught.
  22. Ossining Steamer Co., located downstairs on Central Avenue, owns the building. Have not heard any word except that the Village is still planning on a new house for Steamer Co. on Hawkes Avenue.
  23. Found an article relating to this Firefighters death at Firehouse.com. The article is Do You Have The Courage To Take The Seat Belt Pledge. As I have said before, I always wear my belt when on board and ask if all other members are belted when I drive. We should all have the "courage" to sign this pledge and fax it back by July 21, 2006.
  24. Also from the May 24 edition of The Journal News legal section, the Board of Fire Commissioners approved a resolution authorizing the expenditure of $250,000 for a Fire Rescue Truck. That's some expensive Utility. Maybe it's like Valhalla's new Utility.
  25. While looking through Fire Apparatus and Emergency Equipment Magazine I noticed there is a column on recent appartus orders. Among local orders listed are: Montrose Fire District - American LaFrance Eagle Pumper 1500GPM/500Gal. delivery expected November. Peekskill FD - E-One Cyclone II 19' Heavy Rescue 500GPM/400Gal. delivery was expected in April. *Note - this column is in the hardcopy I saw at the Firehouse, not in the online version.
