  1. The knox box is a win win for both sides, us and the public. By making a key available we can do our jobs more efficiently without having to wait for a keyholder. It also minimizes damage that would occur if the fd had to force entry to the building. I dont see why more municpalities havnt enacted laws or ordinances to place these on commercial buildings.

  4. In regards to nyc, they also have tremendous ammounts of traffic to deal with perhaps where the need arises from them using their lights and sirens. Personally unless responding to a call, no lights or sirens.
  5. All of port chesters firehouse's have recently been built or rennovated, with the exception of the largest, headquarters on westchester ave. There are plans for major work to be done to repair the building which desperately needs it. The bids are out and hopefully well see some work soon.
  6. As with many other departments personal vehicles are not allowed on the highway, for it is not only a problem with congestion in traffic as with personel safety. We usually wait as long as possible for additional manpower at the firehouse. Also we on many occasions have one unit stage on the entrance ramp (unless crically needed) this way members can meet there and ride down to the scene on a piece of fire apparatus.
  7. Does anyone have good advice as how to hook up 2 or 3 speakers to a scanner so there is good sound coming out of them? Any Ideas are welcome.

  9. I have seen on the market battery powered extrication spreaders/cutters that run on 24 or 18 volt dewalt type batteries. Does anyone have these in their department that could give any feed back?
  10. after port chester e-62 engine got dispatched 60 control toned out the village of mamaroneck for a 2nd alarm(03:22), so there had to be substantial fire.
  11. Does anyone out there happen to have pictures from the Frank's Pizzeria fire in Port Chester? I know quite a few people were there taking shots and so far i havent seem to find anyone. Thanks!
  12. L-31 has been serving Port chester for the past few weeks as the second due truck. Unsure for how much longer it will be needed.
