  1. The final inspection is done and we should see it in house at the end of the month.
  2. Maybe someone should publish a book entitled "Trunking For Dummies". I would have to say that I would be on line for it.
  3. Wow, I wonder if there will now be a signifigant delay on these rigs.
  4. How come there are members listed as Alpha Members that havent hit the 350 post mark?
  5. Does anyone here have anything on order or about to be ordered?
  6. Alot of municipalities are now using what is called a Brine. It is a watered down salt that is applied BEFORE a storm to keep snow or ice from sticking to the pavement. Calcium chloride is usually sprayed directly on the salt as it is applied from a truck. It penetrates ice and snow at a rapid pace.
  7. What did you do now?
  8. The tiller is going to be sold. It had the aerial refurbished two years ago. A new tractor would make this a first line rig for any department.
  9. We are having the final inspection on Monday and hope to see it in house at the end or the month.
  10. Its going to be sad to see Engine 11 going. I think that it is one of my favorite rigs in all of Westchester.
  11. I hope someone can give me a simple answer to a few questions I have. I moved north to Putnam County from lower Westchester 3 years ago. When an FD is dispatched for an alarm, do the apparatus have to wait for a certain number of FF before the can respond? If so, what is the number? Is it soly a departmental rule or county wide? Where I volunteer we can respond solo and have members meet the trucks at the scene unless it is on an interstate. Thanks.
  12. We are not yet working on the trunk system. It just has been rather quiet lately. You can listen off the tower in lower westchester thet I think is 472.25.
  13. Nice gig, good luck guys.
  14. City of Rye has a 90 gallon diesel tank mounted in the back of a DPW fleet maintenence vehicle.
  15. It isnt going to roll to either side!
  16. You are in a different position being so close to the FAST team. My question is do you call a FAST team that is 15-20 minutes away or do you call an engine, truck or rescue to do a search that is only 5 miutes away?
  17. When a FAST team is called in and now strips that dept of most of their manpower and mutual aid may now be needed to called in to cover their town, is just calling a closet available engine company a more feasable solution? Rescue 40 has Fast team certified members and E63 can fill bottles if needed. I just think closer is better when peoples lives are at risk. This stupidity among commanders is why I chose long ago not to be one and stay in the lower ranks. I will never be held responsible for making a bonehead decision.
  18. The whole mutual aid system still amazes me. For years, Rye and Port Chester had a strong system in place for each other. Then personalities conflicted and it all went to hell. Take last nights fire in Rye for example. I am not in any way trying to offend the companies that responded and provided assistance to this incident. Port Chester has 5 engines 2 ladders, and a heavy rescue that are available and respond fully staffed. I know that we wont send all of the volunteer companies, but this is what we have. Why would Rye call for help from such distances as West Harrison or the Town of Mamaroneck when help is just 5 minutes away? The decisions from some people just amaze me.
  19. I was with Eng58 when we phototgraphed this rig in the lot of New England Fire Equipment . I think it belonged to Elmsford?
  20. I have seen them on I-95 for years. Are these new replacement trucks?
  21. May everyone have a happy and safe holiday season.
