  2. I notice fewer & fewer people using the "Like This" button, now of course everyone is not going to "Like" everything but consider the contribution the person made to the topic. As an example if a person creates an "Incident Alert" and they really take the time to put some details in the story please consider giving them some credit. I have seen some people who no longer post them because it appears no one cares. If people post some photos of an incident and you like them let them know by hitting that "Like" button. Good conversation started or comments you agree with in a topic give them some credit hit the button. Just my opinion Jim
  3. I do not own a gun, I have shot guns in target practice and don't usually have comments about the gun laws however I have a real problem with this knee jerk reaction by someone who wants to be President some day. I don’t understand how the government sees this as a way to curb gun violence. This law kicks law abiding citizens in the chest making them potential criminals if they have 8 bullets in their in a magazine instead of 7 (I know there are restrictions now but for legal gun owners who have a 10 round clip and would now only be allowed to have 7 it can be a problem) . The government goes after the so called "assault weapons" some of which are a basic shot gun with modern day plastic pieces attached. The majority of shootings that happen in this country are by criminals who can care less what the law says. Few are committed by legal gun owners. While some feel the opposite is the way to go... If you look at the city of Chicago who has the stingiest gun laws in the nation, you see that criminals don't care about laws! Dozens are shot or killed every day and even more on weekends. Now NY plans these ridiculous laws let us not forget the federal government plans on revising the laws as well. The people must rise up and defeat the government on this one, Go after the true criminals not the guy who follows the law *Quotes taken from a story on www.midhudson news .com http://www.midhudsonnews.com/News/2013/January/15/gun_control-15Jan13.html
  4. The only time I can say you should be stopped and are in the wrong is if: An officer is trying to make an arrest and you interfere by sticking the camera in their face while they are trying to detain a perp. You are inside a crime scene and you are taking photos / videos without permission -may be other reasons but it's all common sense and the officer(s) should also realize that.

  12. Date: 2/26/2014 Time: 19:30 Incident Type: 5 Alarm Estate Fire Location: 303 n Tower Hill Rd District: Millbrook FD Units: Millbrook, Dover, Wassiac, Amenia, Union Vale, Millerton, Pleasant Valley, Stanford, Kent Ct., Transcare, NYSP, DCSO, Dutchess County Emergency Response & many more Description: 50 x 140, 2 1/2 story wood (10,000+sq ft) heavily involved upon arrival no one home defensive attack from the start. 1,600 foot driveway. Tanker shuttles & draft sites utilized Poughkeepsie Journal http://www.poughkeepsiejournal.com/article/20140227/NEWS01/140227005/Chief-Town-Washington-home-destroyed-by-fire-residents-unharmed --------------- A message from the Chief of the Millbrook Fire department.. My utmost thanks to the personnel who responded to the structure fire last night during which the Millbrook Fire Department fought a heavily-involved fire in a 12,000-square-foot house, seven road miles from the station, in temperatures that dropped to around 0°F by the end of the incident. Our efforts were additionally hampered by the absence of a viable water source in the immediate vicinity, a driveway just under 2000' long and barely wide enough for an apparatus, high winds, and hilly terrain around the structure covered in 18-36" of snow. The fire was dispatched at 19:29hrs, and the last unit was placed in service at 02:50hrs. The occupants were not at home at the time of the fire. Nearly a hundred firefighters operated at the scene or stood by, from Millbrook; Wassaic; Dover Plains; Amenia; Pleasant Valley; Union Vale; Millerton; Sharon, CT; and Lakeville, CT. Additional assistance was received from Transcare Ambulance, the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, the New York State Police, the Town of Washington Highway Department, and the Dutchess 911 Dispatch Center. If I have forgotten anyone, I apologize. It's been a long night. Fires of this nature and scope are, thankfully, rare. The determination, skill, and camaraderie demonstrated last night are a testament to the positive attitudes and training of our firefighters, EMS providers, and police personnel. While the structure was a total loss, it goes in my book as a "good" alarm: no one was hurt, everyone went home, nothing was seriously broken, and the fire is out. To say I'm proud to be a part of this service would be a gross understatement. I'm proud of each and every person who responded, grateful to all of you for that skill and determination, and humbled that you allow me to lead you. Thank you all.
