  1. Seeing this device used first hand, it is a case by case senario. I have seen this device used for the good and for the bad. Every patient is different, and depending upon this, decides the effectiveness in using such a device. In all cases where the device is ineffective, manual compressions are performed.
  2. Mohegan has Peekskill's Tower Ladder 45 respond dual response to all Automatic Alarms and structural calls at Hudson Valley Hospital. Mohegan also has Yorktown respond dual response with Ladder 51 to Holy Comforter Nursing Home under the same principles,
  3. In Mohegan there are a few that I can think of off hand... 1) Jefferson Valley Mall 2) Either one of the 3 Nursing Homes (Treetops, Cortlandt, or Holy Comforter) 3) Hudson Valley Hospital 4) Water Treatment Plant on Rt 6...lots of Chlorine 5) Yeshiva (141 Furnace Woods Rd) 6) one suprised not mentioned before...a call at either a fellow member's house or worse...a family members house 7) One of the dozens of car dealerships, strip malls or commercial stores
  4. Just a reminder...Mahopac's Parade later today 7/7/05. Step off at 7pm. Runs through downtown Mahopac ending at Fire Headquarters.
  5. 1700 hrs approx. 7/4/05 Franklin D Roosevelt State Park in Yorktown off Taconic State Pkwy and Rt 202 Units: Multiple NYS Park Police, Multiple Yorktown PD, Multiple NY State Police Units from Cortlandt, Somers and Hawthorne, NYC DEP Police units Incident: Large unruly group of at least 50 people in Lot #5 that will have to escorted from park. YPD advises to send more units due to objects including bottles being thrown at officers. Yorktown PD requested Yorktown VAC and Mohegan VAC on standby in their respective quarters due to the possiblity of injuries. A short time later VAC's stood down with negative incident.
  6. The Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association has owned the land for quite some time now and now with all the equipment that the association owns, space to keep the apparatus is needed. As far as the ambulance, there is only space for 3 at Headquarters. A 4th rig can been seen being purchased in the very near future. The 4th rig will be kept here, at this new location along with the VAC's Utility and Injury Prevention Trailer that will be delivered shortly to carry "Andy the Ambulance. Another side note...this new facility will also provide space that can be occupied for offices or storage of records/equipment for the Association and VAC. Unfortunately there is only so much expansion that can be done to HQ on Rt 6.
  7. The Mohegan Volunteer Fire Association is in fact in the process of building a substation at Rt 6 and Mill St. The Volunteer Association will occupy this new station with the 2 antiques, 2 Fire Prevention trailers, Utility 69 (Fire Prevention Pickup Truck, and an MVFA-VAC ambulance. The VAC is looking into buying a 4th rig eventually. Because the fire district and fire association are 2 seperate entities, the volunteers are looking to gain more space because Headquarters is slowly being outgrown.
  8. Thoughts and Prayers to his family and his extended family at the Ossining FD.
  9. Just a reminder....Yorktown Parade is 6/22/05 at 7pm!!!! Carnival at end of parade at YHFD HQ on Commerce St.
  10. It was delivered a few days ago. Not in service yet.
  11. Just a reminder...parade is tonight!!!!
  12. From what I heard, the County did in fact approve the purchase...time will only tell.
  13. After attending this somber funeral, I must say that I was personally touched by the large turnout on this day. I can only estimate that there were upwards of 1,000 firefighters on hand with approximately 100 fire apparatus/vehicles from Dutchess, Putnam and Westchester in the funeral procession. This just proves how we all come together in a time of need.
  14. Engine looks very nice and well designed!!!! =D> Congratulations and good luck with it.
  15. Continental Village FD does in fact cover parts of Westchester and Putnam County's. As a matter of fact, Continental Village is dispatched by Putnam 911. Peekskill VAC provides coverage on the Westchester County side while Garrison VAC provides EMS for the Putnam County side.
  16. Congratulations to the new and upcoming officers of Mohegan!!!!
  17. At least we can say that this winter is officially over...
  18. Verplanck is looking into the replacement of Eng 128 and Rescue 42 with a Rescue/Pumper (Eng number unk at this time). The new rig could possibly be a 4 door commercial chassis. More to follow as specs are completed... Info relayed from VFD 2497
  19. Since Nick asked about driving, what about me???
  20. The new tones as of right now are temporary. A few members have had their Minitor IV pagers reprogrammed to activate with the new tones on top of the old tones. This is a trial period to see if the different tones are a possible solution to the dilemma that we have been having with the Minitor IV pagers not activating. Time will only tell.....
  21. I have had the LMFD FASTeam patch sewn on my shoulder of my gear with Nomex thread for a few years now...so far no problems with it. Also on a side note...I had 2 rips in my pants sewn back together by Globe at their factory. Globe sewn on 2 patches of material with Nomex thread to cover the rips. It would seem that if Globe would repair my gear with a patch and Nomex thread, this then shows that having a dept patch sewn on would be safe? :-k
  22. When I'm driving the rig, I will always ask the highest medical provider in the back how he/she wants the ride to the ER to be...usually location, type of medical condition/injury, weather, and traffic play a very important role in this determination.
  23. Mohegan's twin 1976 Ward-LaFrance 's (Eng 256 and previous Eng 257) are both currently front line engines for the Palm Coast FD in Florida

  25. Nice rig...I'm suprised none of the EMS agencies in this area have thought about a vehicle like this for MCI's or for Standby Situations.
