It is with great sadness that the Lake Carmel Fire Dept announces the passing of former Lieutenant Marcus Sorbellini (39 y/o). Marcus was involved in a one car motor vehicle accident in Beekman early Sunday morning where he died instantly. The passenger was air lifted to St. Frances in Dutchess with non life threatening injuries.
While I am on the web site to post about our member and the loss his four daughters now have I am here to extend my sincere gratitude to the men and women of the Beekman Fire dept and Ambulance as well as the Troopers and Medics that were on scene. From what I have gathered talking to a few of you that were on scene it was horrific and there is nothing in the world anybody can say to take those images away. All I can say is keep your head up and keep moving forward your brothers and sisters in Lake Carmel are thinking about you too and we are here if you need us.
Arrangements are as follows: Thursday 2-4pm and 7-9pm at Cargain Funeral Home, Fowler Ave, Carmel. Fire Dept will be paying their respects to the family at 7pm in uniform. The Funeral will be at St James on Rt 52 in Carmel on Friday beginning at 11am internment to follow at Raymond Hill Cemetery on Rt 52 in Carmel.

When I restored the General Ike (B85F 1242) from my old college department in Gettysburg, I requested information from the Mack museum about Millwood's B95 as well. The truck resides today in Circleville, and I'm not sure if I can ever get it back, but I intend (when finances permit) to approach the gentleman up there about purchasing it with the intent to restore and donate back to MFC.... In the meantime here are some photos for all of us who fondly remember the original Millwood Engine 5 or in County DES terms E-245... I responded to my very first alarm as a FF on this rig to a Yorktown job tucked deep into a small cutout of the Millwood Fire District on near the intersection of Adams and Possum off Pinesbridge Road. T-15 doesn't have an ounce of the class that this old Mack has....
Built entirely at the Mack facility in Allentown, PA (some trucks had bodies and chassis manufactured in separate facilities) with a construction date of 1-31-1959 and a delivery date of 3-26-1959 it was a very progressive rig for it's day (not surprising though as MFC has always been a progressive albeit small department). With a 1500 gal tank, lots of enclosed storage (including the preconnects, hard tubes, and pike poles being covered on the hose bed) enclosed seating for 5ff's, and an early version of a pre-piped foam eductor it was one hell of a rig.
It is one of only two tandem axle Mack B model fire trucks made by the factory. The other was delivered in June of the same year to Gallery Chemical Co. near Pittsburgh, PA as B95FSW 1161.
Enjoy the photos snapped shortly after delivery.....

On 1/2/13 Arlington firefighters were dispatched for a structure fire at the intersection of Haight and Fowler Ave. Units arrived to find a 2.5 story structure well involved with reports of people still in the building. Firefighters made entry to attack the fire but were pulled out soon after because of heavy fire above them. Two residents were reported to have jumped from a second story window. At that time operations went to a definsive mode. The fire was difficult to extinguish because of hydrant problems and also exposure problems. Firefighters finally had gotten the fire under control in about 45 minutes. The fire is under investigation by Arlington Fire Department. (GROUP 4)

In the early morning of Monday January 7th 2013, Arlington was dispatched to 48 Raymond Ave for smoke in the Building. Units arrived to find heavy smoke coming from the duct work of the first floor business. Firefighters made entry to find a fire in the kitchen. Fire had also extended to the attached apartment building in the rear. Arlington had gotten reports of a resident in the apartments was trapped and could not exit the structure. While firefighters were locating and trying to put out the fire on the first floor, Firefighter Joe Tarquinio Jr. went to the rear of the building and made entry to the second floor to search. The rear door had to be forced open. He then made his way down the hallway in zero visibility and in deteriorating conditions, and found an unconscious male. He then radioed command and told 32-9 that he needed help getting the victim out. At that time Firefighter Bill Tompkins Jr. made his way to the 2nd floor to assist. The pair were able to get the male occupant out with some difficulty, as conditions were getting a lot worse. While this rescue was being made, other Arlington Firefighters were chasing fire through out the structure. Mutual Aid was received from the City of Poughkeepsie, Pleasant Valley, Roosevelt, Lagrange and New Hamburg Fire Departments. The fire is under investigation by the Arlington Fire District. Congratulations Group 4, JOB WELL DONE!

Tonight, at 0001 hrs on 1-1-13, EMTBravo will turn 10 years old! Maybe it's just me that's excited over something so trivial, but to me, it means something
Seems like it was just yesterday when I sat dow at my computer, enjoying the relatively new, long awaited broadband connection, at my apartment in Woburn,MA on New Year's Eve, when on a whim, I decided to create a website to replace my email list. So, the very simple website went live at 0001 on New Years Day, and, like a snowball down a hill, kept growing each and every week that went by. Photos and information poured in to post on the original site. There had never been a site like this in the Hudson Valley and Southwestern CT, and was launched before anyone had really every heard about Facebook or the term "Social Media". You could tell imediately that this was something that people had wanted since learning the word "Internet". Heck, some people only ventured on the internet for EMTBravo, and that's the only use they had for it.. Seven months later, the EMTBravo Network forums were launched to replace the "News" section of the original site and become an interactive and dynamic way to exchange information and ideas . EMTBravo has expanded tremendously in both size and geographical areas covered from the small, Westchester dedicated site that it originally was. And to this day, 10 years later, the site keeps growing and I stil have the passion for it that I had on Day 1.
It's still our vision, and it's been proven over the years, that firefighters, police officers, EMS workers, 911 Dispatchers, and everyone else with an interest in emergency services can work together, can become friends, can develop ideas, can learn from one another, and can make anything happen. Of course, it was our first mission to "get the word out" which is still true to this day.
One of the things that I am proud of, is that members of the site when it was first launched are still active members and staff to this day! The loyalty and support of this site by the all of our members has been awesome, and has made the site what it is.
Personally, one of the things I'm most grateful for during the entire 10 years of this site was all the great friendships that I have made along the way, that I probaly wouldn't have ever met had it not been for this site.
And we intend to use this oppurtunity to celebrate! Look for special 10 year anniversary features throughout the year, starting tommorow with an EMTBravo Quiz!

Strong work by County PD Officer James Rosselli and Officer Matthew Cohn, who were the first on scene minutes after the initial call and made the rescue. The woman could have very easily drowned. Also props to the Yonkers DPW crew who was nearby and witness the event, and removed the victim from the other vehice, which was also taking on water.
Special thanks to the current 307 for sharing the photos! They depict the scene after both patients were transported to the hospital.

The Chief of Sandy Hook VFD has gone on the CT Fire forum and said that if they require assistance dealing with these people, they will put the word out at the appropriate time. You can be damned sure if that call comes in there will be quite a response from CTs first responders.

I'd also like to recognize the Connecticut State Police again. Since this tragedy, CSP has had Troopers detailed 24/7 as Liaisons to each individual family who has lost a loved one, helping protect them from the vultures in the media and helping out in any other way they can. These men and women are amazing, truly CT's finest.

Here are some photos I took at yesterday's 4th alarm fire at 603 Jackson Avenue in the Bronx. These photos are about an hour into the incident. There was no visible fire at this time, but still heavy smoke. Mostly tower ladders performing hydraulic overhaul, and apparatus on scene. Enjoy!
Across the street from the fire is a school playground, and a large crowd had gathered to watch. Air recon (NYPD Aviation) can be seen above the fire buildings.

Engine 96 took another hydrant the next block over on Concord, and hand stretched a 3 inch line through the playground in case it was needed
