  1. I disagree, a blue courtesy light does make when you live in a district that the fire house is on the main road which is usually clogged with traffic and it would normally take 45 minutes to drive a 1/8 of a mile, a Blue light makes a big difference. When most of the traffic is stopped they then to be more then willing to give the courtesy to pull on the shoulder and let us safely pass at a speed which is probably less then half the posted speed limit in the area but still a whole lot faster then waiting in the bumper to bumper traffic.
  2. People are getting desperate, just look at this Desperate Times

  6. Don't worry, I'm sure there are plenty of Departments out in LI that will buy them, or even a bunch of 17 year olds fresh outta FF1, (I know, I WAS One of them)
  7. Hooking the horn to the turn signal is also funny, I've heard stories about blue lights being hooked up to the brake lights on some cars in my department
  8. What no bold lettering on the follow up comment??
  9. The Federal Signal Rumbler™ Siren is only an amplifying device and speaker for the vehicles current Electronic siren. So it will defiantly not work with the mechanical Q2B . As far as the E-Q2B™, according to the spec sheet for the Rumbler™ it states…
  10. Did any one ever think of UPS? I bet they back up 1000 times more than any ambulance too, 90% of the time they are driver alone and back up vehicles larger than an ambulance with no back windows, or any one backing up. They seem to get by using back up camara’s.
  11. works fine, no error messages anywhere
  12. In Putnam if a call comes in Monday through Friday from 6am - 6p, the original agency only gets a driver and the call is BLS, the Empire EMT will take in the call with that agency leaving the medic in service if another ALS call drops.
  13. Our hair traction splint was left at WMC about a month ago; when we went down there about a week ago on another run we went to go look for it. We were told that if it wasn't in the locker by the door, it may be in the basement. After about 10 minutes of wandering around the basement because no one we asked had any idea what it was or some didn't even speak English, we stumbled into a room that no joke had over 200 backboards. If we had more time we would of went through them, because we bet at least 10 are probably ours. If any one has any more info on this room, or if we are even allowed to go though them it probably would be worth wild to get a couple of vacs/fd together to go down one day to sort them out. Also we still haven't found that splint.
  14. Rest in Peace Brother Mahopac Fire Department
  15. They should take a collection up to buy 100 of the "Boots" and have Jimmy Justice Lock them on all the illegally parked traffic cars. BTW The reason they wear orange vests that say traffic is because they cause traffic. Some of these people can't even direct traffic in a driveway let alone a city street.
  16. I did the electric work on this project. You can’t really appreciate it until you see it up close in person.
  17. Amen Brother
  18. Putnam County can't afford ALS, but can afford to run a Golf Course thats losing money, go figure.
  19. Let me guess every one who went to Resolute Hook and Ladder couldn't understand why they couldn't bring their hoses and nozzles? J/K
  20. I believe the city had American Lafrance rescue style trucks back in the 80’s. Our “Putnam County” Hazmat Truck is a 1982 ALF, which rumor has it was the city’s X-Hazmat Rig, then a collapse truck. If any one has any more info on this or a picture of the truck when it was in service with the FDNY it would be greatly appreciated.
  21. They have a set of magnets inside the cab, when it’s out for show or driver alone its 86-03. If there is an EMT on board, the driver slaps a B over the 0. If the medic rides the call in, he slaps the A on.
  22. Rest In Peace Brother
  23. The light bars the NYPD uses are actually the Vision line, not the vector. The clear rotators are “driven” by stepper motors, which are controlled by a computer brain in the light bar so it knows which way the rotator is facing at all times. Therefore the brain can control it to face, rotate, or sweep in any direction set by the program. The older bars all 7 “pod” were that way.
