  1. It's the old wild west along the border. Here in San Diego County, interdiction efforts are such that the smugglers, both human and drugs, have taken to trying to enter our country via the Pacific Ocean. A couple of people were caught using submersible sleds last month as they came up on the beach. Gang members come up from Tijuana and kidnap business owners who live here in the States and ask ridiculous ransoms, thinking because they own a business they must be millionaires...late last year a 14 year old was arrested for being a cartel hit man down there...like I said it's like Tombstone or Dodge City in the old west...

  10. Grumpy-thanks for posting buddy. I have visited twice, the first time while my high school band was in Hawaii ( and none of my fellow bandmates understood the significance) and once in the Air Force. While going over to Ford Island to catch a helo out to one of the islands for a range clearance, I passed by the berth where my Grandfather's battleship was anchored during the attack (down by where the Missouri is now). His Captain saved the ship, as it was listing and getting ready to capsize while in the harbor. The Captain ordered all ballast tanks to be blown, causing the ship to right itself from the list and settle on the bottom. The USS California was taken to Washington state for repairs and actually fought a couple of the final battles in 1945,

  24. Depending on the State, many disease processes are automatically considered as "job related" due to the nature of a firefighter's job. Cardiac, Lung, Stroke and Cancer are the big 4 that are usually covered due to the exposure one receives due to the job. We just had a firefighter from a local department here pass from Melanoma and it was considered Line of Duty.
