Thanks, Jack! I'll set my South Zone accordingly. Living where I do I hear the North Zone perfectly, as well as all of the UHF links to 46.26, so I don't miss much. LOL
-
Ok this time, but be MOOOOOOOOOORE careful next time!!!!! Sorry, just had to do that!!!
-
Not nwcessarily true, jack. I have the North Zone in my Rad Sahck PRO 97, and I do hear everything, It will hold for a second or 2 after conversation stops, but if the conversation does pick a different frequency, it will catch it in due time. As for the South Zone, I downloaded the data feom RR.com, and North wroks fine, but South Zone, I get nothing. In fact, it takes longer for the scanner to go thru 0 bank (North) than 1 bank (South). Also with the PRO 97, you cannot put both Zones in the same bank---per the guy at R/S that I bought it from. I'll keep putzing with my South bank and see if I can get it to work. Once I do I'll post the right numbers here.

Anyone with small children and toddlers should see this: Infant Swimming Resource - South Mountain, LLC It could avert a tragedy.
-
Well, evidentally, the people who run that outfit saw something in it, if it isn' a big deal and kids can swim and float by themselves, then why do they drown so often?
-
Congrats, Tim!!!!!

Ya know what? I think they could face disciplinary action. Maybe---conduct unbecoming????? Not sure they would be "Kicked out" permanently, but they should be suspended for a good amount of time. Just my $0.02

QUOTE(Chris192 @ Jan 25 2008, 09:41 AM) If the fire/EMS calls can't be covered without taking other government services offline or away from their regular assignments - there is a problem that needs to be fixed! WEll, while what Chris said may be true in some areas, it isn't in my Department. We have the Town Highway crew and a local commercial entity. Both are run by past Chiefs. The employees are allowed to respond UNLESS their job assignments prohibit it. For example during the winter, burner service techs get tied up cleanings, and repairs, and, of course during "winter weather events" Highway crew is obviously unable to respond, and during summer the drew doing paving/patching can't whiy a load of hot blacktop in the truck. MOST of the time they can and do respond with no problem.

They are water tank level indicators.

Croton Falls had 2 Wards a 1939 and a 1948. They were replaced in about 1968 or 1969 with a pair of twin GMCs. The 1948 was sold, but I can't remember where it went. The 1939 was taken over by the Department, sat around for several years after a few attempts by members to "restore her" We only recently sent it out for a complete, professional restoration. I know it's conna cost a lot, but I think it'll be worth it since it was our first commercially acquired pumper. It's a big part of our heritage. When we get it back I'll get some pix and post them.

Now, that might work. I know that career guys want to see more jobs created for brother and sister FFs, I just know that it is easier said than done in a lot of areas. Unfortunatly or fortunately, depending upon how you look at it, the economy, and taxes are so far out, that people are bailing out at an alarming rate. Hell, I've seen it with my department. One thing I think we can all agree on, is that it ain't the way it used to be!!!

First off I'm not in a village, I'm in a town, and that town doesn't have any "over the top" anything. As for school teachers leaving, I've never heard of that and find it highly unlikely it happens anywhere. Well this type of thinking infuriates me as well!!!!! Yeah, I know some towns have their favorite "pork barrel" projects, however this isn't enough to support full time career anything so let's just leave it at that, Because, as I said earlier, the cost will drive people out faster than they are running away now! Also remember the economy is not in the best shape either. nuff said

Ok, maybe so, but you can't get blood from a stone. Where do you get money from??? What good is it when your taxes go so high that you lose most pf your tax base??? your solution just might work in a large area whit mostly commercial tax base, but these small towns can't! Why do you think so many houses are going up for sale so fast? Almost every other day I see antoher house with for sale signs in front, and believe me, it aint because people just like to pack up and move every other day!
-
In a "perfect world this might work, But in many smaller towns and villages, that would be a financial IMPOSSABILITY! A few years back, one of our commissioners did the math, putting just 1 career ff on 26/7/365. Considering salary, benefits, annual and sick leave, etc. the cost was prohibitive. And that was just for 1 fire fighter. Guess this aint a perfect world! I only wish I could remember the numbers.

I know how you guys feel losing your favorite rock station, cause I felt the same way when 103.5 changed their format away from country and again when 101.1 stopped the oldies. Yeah, I happen to like oldies, country and Irish music, and that isn;t in any particular order.
-
What? You have a problem with Country Music????
-
Nah, just the team who boasts of being a New York team when they aren't. Meadowkands is in Jersey, so I think Jersey should get the credits!!!
