As a NYCDEP employee I work an 8 hour shift albeit 0700 to 1500 but there is no meal break so yeah I would like to see this addition and no, Seth I don't think it would be a major problem.As WAS967 stated it definitely has the potential for newer members to find things otherwise buried somewhere in the lounge.

I actually prefer it to the FD pager. I find it much more reliable. I have my pager at work in hawthorne and the Nextel will bleep and give me a text message BUT as in many other locations the pager just keeps quiet.

It's a system called I-page. Each Dept in the county has a certain number of members set up with 60 control. You need to talk to the Chief to get set up with it

I believe there may be a liability issue with having certain types of PE/PT equipment in the firehouse. If someone uses it without properly trained personnel there and they get hurt it could create quite a hassle.
