  1. heres what i posted on another forum: I recently demo'd one. Heres some observations: -it certainly is manueverable and easy to operate. wherever you can put most top mount pumpers you can put one of these.-i felt the tip was really wobbly and bouncy being a lighter duty aerial.-The waterway is limited to 600 gpm. -For those depts that like wicked ladder complements, this will be lacking some. -there are some limits to capacities depending on elevation and extention and if water is flowing or not that would remind some folks who've been around a while what you needed to remember when using 200 or 250lb ladders. it feels like one when climbing.-its not a replacement for a tiller-no place for a stokes or RIT basket or long tools other than 6 hooks.-the jack spread was good as is typical with e-one aerials
  2. Sure why not? They would be the group who would oppose uniform standards.
  3. is there a FASNY supporter on these boards who want to chime in????
  4. regarding #2, it doesnt require YOU have one, it requires one responds, not necessarily from YOUR dept
  5. In the early to mid nineties, the dept im with called in a few suburban volunteer depts for either cover assignments or to work. In multiple occasions, a bc would put them to work only to be told "we dont have any interior guys" or something to that effect. The final time they were sent home and a different arrangement was instituted after that.
  6. The fire occurred on a Sunday afternoon. Would there have been that much help that quick if it happened on a late morning on a weekday?
  7. Interesting to note is one of those on the board of directors is the former nys insurance commissioner who signed the death warrant of the fire patrol in the first place. www.NewYorkFirePatrol.com
  8. It also didnt help when one of the neighboring dept routinely would send us an apparatus with only one or NO ff's capable of interior operations (daytime situation)
  9. in our case it also was apparent that even though a couple of volunteer depts were closer, by the time they turned out and responded, the more distant career dept was in the city working.
  10. R-1 got a new rig??? i guess the pierce didnt hold up well?
  11. The Town of Hartwick, in Otsego county is another.
  12. CTR, captial tech rescue in the albany area does most it not all of those topics
  13. You also forgot the ladder in Niskayuna. Interesting that the same chief you mention is mr. conservative on his radio talk show and in his conversations with other conservative radio talk show hosts. Their new firehouse is anything but "austere".
  14. They all have boat loads of automatic aid to make sure somebody shows up. If things were rosey, they would be able to cover their calls. A cpl of depts have some paid folks in house for janitorial, administrative tasks, etc. And when a call comes in they become ff's and go. So, if they get injured on a run are they considered vol ff's and get vfbl? they dont get 207a.
  15. european tax rates on everything is higher than here. that ceo is throwing bs.
  16. pretty nice unit. The thing about low hosebeds is: they're only low when they're empty, with a load of hose in 'em, they're still pretty high.

  18. maybe the guy can go to a "state police special assistant" for help with his tickets. http://www.timesunion.com/default/article/Can-New-York-afford-this-1047104.php
  19. Hey man, there are quite a few with million plus budgets.
  20. why should someone else pay for making sure you're doing the right thing with your budgets????
  21. saying its lowest still doesnt make if ok if its excessive.
  22. nor are there ANYWHERE in the hudson valley. especially during a weekday.
  23. Yes, we work for the taxpayers. In many peoples minds that means we're nothing more than slaves. Fox news, several dirtbag commentators (including one alcoholic and one admitted drug addict), and numerous other slanted media outlets suggest it on a daily basis.
  24. the article said the exemptions expire in 2014 and they will no longer be avail.
