  1. Thanks to all.....
  2. Well Homer J I guess you have never really listened to fire/ems frequencies, or the Sheriffs frequencies, in Putnam because there are some nights when there is nothing but attitude on the radio, and I am not talking about the new dispatchers. This is Deputies ( not all but a few) talking to other Deputies or Officers...
  3. Thanks TR54... I appreciate the help, I thought there were more out there.....
  4. Does anyone have an updated list of the 46.260 crossband repeater frequencies. Thanks
  5. I get to deal with Putnam 911 on many different levels, and I feel they are all doing a good job. There have been a few hiccups but that is expected. Yeah it has been busy the last few days, and I dont think they skipped a beat. As far as a delay in dispatching after recieving a call from another agency, this has been going on since the " 40 Control" days, I dont know why it happens but it does. I have heard a police agency send a police unit for an EMS or Fire call, and notify dispatch. They advise the responding police unit that dispatch was notified, at some times I have seen 5 minutes go by before the dispatch is made. I havent seen this happen recently. and like I said I think all the dispatchers are doing a good job so far, I hope this dosent go to there heads...lol...
  6. Steph, Basically forget everything that you may have seen on the "street" and go by the book. Some of the protors are very anal and leave no room ... GOOD LUCK

  8. wow i forgot City of White Plains had two tillers, the old Ladders 32 and 34, not sure if they still use them as spares or if they still have them at all.
  9. 10. Interesting article, I guess the writer was never strapped to a board and had a 20 minute plus ride to a facility. I can note on two different areas of the State. Where I work in Lower Westchester, we rarely use a MEDEVAC to the scene, we have transport times, I am talking once the patient is in the back of the ambulance, of 5 minutes to a Level 2 Trauma Center, and about 10-15 minutes to a Level 1 Trauma Center. Now where I work in Putnam County, there are ground transport times of 20-30 or more minutes depending on where you are, time of day, weather, etc.etc.etc...and that is only to a Level 2 Trauma center in either another state or in dutchess. Do I feel a MEDEVAC is always needed, of course not, and I know of certain Medics that absolutely, positively abuse the system and call the MEDEVAC all of the time, and this is part of the problem. The cost dosent play into the factor for my decision to call one or not. As most Medics would say I am looking out for the best interest of my patient. The system here in the Hudson Valley isnt perfect but it is what we have now, and have to deal with. I do know that when I started EMS, there was no MEDEVAC system available to us, and we used to take those " criticaly injured " patients to the closest hospital and most of them died. So i feel there is a place for the MEDEVAC if it is used properly.
  11. OK Shawn its time to go pick up the Pennysaver, or the Journal News. or log on to hudsonvalleyhelpwanted.com
  12. Mamaroneck Village Ladder 20 Port Chester Ladder 31 ( if its still there ) Rye - used to have one not still sure they do. Hastings Ladder 22 ( as per gags 120 ) Harrison the old Ladder 24 was a Tiller all I can think of off the top of my head, sounds like they are a dying breed...
  13. expense what expense with the low salaries that are paid for the most part in most systems, i find that to be funny.. Being a Paramedic for nearly 20 years, I agree that more " citizen" and first responder training, especially in CPR, is needed to help that sudden cardiac arrest victim. I also agree and know for a fact that Medics are needed for much more then Cardiac Arrests. In fact we are probably more useful for other serious, reversible medical problems, and post arrest victims, to try to keep them for going back into arrest. I believe in Seattle that you cannot even get your drivers license without first having been trained in CPR. In my opinion I think that every High School Student should be trained in CPR, they can do it in Health Class or in Gym, or make it a requirement for graduation. Yeah I know all the liberals will be crying that you cant force someone to do something that they dont want to do. But when Grandma or Grandpa drop during dinner wouldnt you like to know what to do, or worse yet when your little brother or sister stop breathing because there choking on food wouldnt it be nice to know that you could do something. just my thoughts
  14. So I guess when they hit the racks for the night they are sleeping in full uniform and bunkers on and everything..
  15. sounds like someone had a bug up there you know what about her. Maybe becasue they werent part of the group. I agree with Shawn if it is consensual and not in public and there not delaying there duties whats the big deal. Everyone is so friging up tight these days its not funny. Im sure if you look into the pasts of the people doing the investigations, that they arent perfect people as well. So lighten up.
  16. mstrang1... I couldnt agree with you more....
  17. JUSTTTTTTTTTTTT a little worse then the fuzzy tennis ball tongue feeling when you wake up......
  18. Dont know if anyone is interested but the Call Audit/CME for ALS providers in Westchester County, that was scheduled for next week, has been pushed up to tonight at 1930hrs. Date: 3-1-05 Time: 1930hrs Location: Sound Shore Medical Center, New Rochelle
  19. Just another reason that EMS is treated like third class scum. and people wonder why there is such a high turn over rate, and people jump to go to fd or pd. I remember not to long ago Pataki, and Bloomberg and the rest of the politicians standing toe to toe with EMS , FD, PD and raving at what heroes and wonderful people we all are. Well I am not political or care to be, but this is an election year for them, I think they forgot about that, not that anyone else that goes into office will be much better...
  20. Although there is a good argument not to have bars or clubrooms at firehouses, I dont see them closing anytime soon. Weather or not I think its a good idea or not, the drivers should be held responsible should they drive the apparatus when they shouldnt be, ie: after a few, . I have been in the position, officer on the rig, of telling a driver to get out of the rig because I smelt alcohol on his breath, he didnt like it and I almost had to physically remove him from the truck, it didnt matter to me if he had one beer or was boxed I didnt feel safe with him driving at that point. This member came from a bar that was located right next door to the firehouse, so it kinda goes to show that the problem may not be that there is alcohol at the firehouse.
  21. Kent's 16-7-1 is still a 4x4, Harrison VAC original trucks were 4x4 but no longer. You need to be King Kong to lift the stretcher into the back of these monsters, but they do have there good points as well as some other bad ones.
  22. Man this could open up a can of worms for a lot of departments everywhere. NOBODY should be selling or giving alcohol to minors no matter where it is. The Chief should be held somewhat accountable, but whichever people actually gave the alchol to the minors should hang........just my opinion
  23. Ok so where can I get it and do I need any endorsements, or letters or anything?
  24. sure new if its not too expensive
