Why was R1 O.O.S? Also why were they using a ladder, what happened to the spare Rescue?
The spare Rescue was out for a long time after an accident. Body repairs were made, a new front bumper was installed and electrical problems were addressed. During that time, if the Rescue 1 vehicle needed PM or routine repairs, the crew would man a spare rear-mount aerial. They would need the space on the rig to put their equipment. Now with the spare Rescue back, we have a fully-stocked rig for spare or reserve duty.

So essentially is all of the probationary YFD members that I saw drilling and completing training academy at the WCFTC last winter not working for YFD ATT?
14 are back, 21 are laid off...

Rest In Peace My Brother

ok so its still the way it was over the summer. Out of curiosity will saftey every be restored to full time service.
We don't know.
Also, there are still 21 Probationary Firefighters laid off, 14 Lieutenants demoted to Firefighter and a Captain demoted to Lieutenant...
The crane is for moving concrete used in USAR drills.

whats the deal with safety are they still not manned???
Safety still has not been restored full-time. If a covering chief is available (not filling a vacation spot) he may be detailed in to Safety.

If the member hasn't logged on for 5 years, maybe it's a mistake, and you could clean house but one with no posts who logs on still might enjoy the site and learn from it... Which isn't something to discourage...

The LAFD has to continue to educate the public what the Chiefs' Aides do and counter the perception that they're "chauffeurs" and "staff assistants." Those are oversimplications and misconceptions of their function.
By the way I hope the mayor doesn't have anyone who drives him or his Commissioners...

I've heard that Empire State College will convert a lot of your fire and EMS courses into credits. Is this actually true, and how does it work?
More Specifically:
You are assigned a Mentor who helps you organize your Credit by Evaluation.
Afterward you work with the Mentor to design the degree program.

Who else had Compac's in the area besides Yonkers? Don't believe this is a Yonkers rig..........from the pics i've seen on here, the only 2 door Compac engine that YFD had, was the refurbed ALF with the front suction, and I don't see any front suction.
Wasn't there one in the Stratford-Trumbull-Shelton Ct area?

- what does SQURT stand for ?I'm not sure whether it stands for anything (I'm sure if it does, this is the forum with people who whould know!) but it comes from a brand name "TELE-SQURT" which manufactured a piped waterway on the top of an Engine which can be telescoped to "squirt" water on fire.
I believe Stamford FD still has one.
