It is centrally located, but if you go north on Lexington, isn't there an abandoned school with property?
The abandoned school is now the Hudson Valley Islamic Community Center. After years of disrepair, it looks like its been undergoing some renovations inside and out.
That being said, there are 16 acres of land now for sale just south of that location diagonally from GWES that could potentially serve as a new home?

Four park rangers and two concession stand workers were injured at Rye Playland Thursday night, one suffering a broken arm, when they tried to subdue a Bronx man who turned violent, county police said.
Many years ago, Playland had "specials" to patrol the park. I was one of them, we were uniformed seasonal peace/ police officers that were armed and carried night sticks. Many of us used this experience to transition into full time careers in law enforcement. In reading the postings it appears the that "specials" have been replaced by park rangers. One of the disturbing facts in both incidents at Playland is that rangers were injured and there was no report of the perps being pepper sprayed. I am not implying that there should be retribution but do these rangers carry any devices to protect themselves? Or is thier role to observe and report and hope help shows up in time? if this is the case It seems like it may be time to go back to the "specials".
Specials have evolved into the rangers- uniform change and lack of firearm. I believe they used to carry until about 7 years ago when they were taken away after an incident. I dont think adding more police officers will matter as we see police officers were attacked by these perps in both incidents as well.

Seth Granville was quoted in a LoHud article. I cant wait to retire and move away from this crazy tax base. It is doing more harm than good. There wont be enough residents to afford taxes and services here.

anyone know why there was a chopper with spotlight in Cortlandt 5/1 around 2200 hrs?
-
No surprise they took the good looks of the Taurus. I'd like to see specs on power and space.

I'll agree the colors will provide for better legibility and probably be picked up better by the LPR.
But honestly, does anyone else agree with me they are just plain ugly ? Reminds me of the 70s

I was stuck in traffic on the Bear Mountain Bridge Rd yesterday around 2pm. Anyone have info on what happened?
-
- If you live or work in Putnam, Rockland, Dutchess or Orange, you may be considered. Call or email the PSEF for more information.
- Training is held in the evening for new recruits.
- Most applicants fail the pysch test or background check. Some recruits don't make it through the first month or two.
With a history dating back to 1917, the force has always recruited the most dedicated individuals- some of whom now serve as County and local Police Officers.
You need to be committed to this position. Slackers need not apply.
-
The Westchester County Department of Public Safety Emergency Force (PSEF) is looking for HIGHLY QUALIFIED recruits to join its organization as a Part-Time Deputy Sheriff. The position is a volunteer role. Recruits attend the Westchester County Police Academy's Peace Officer class and have such status and powers while on duty. The PSEF assists the County Police and local police at special events, DWI checkpoints, and other high visibility details. Recruits will go through the same police background check used by the County Police. On average, only 1 in 10 applicants pass.
This is a rewarding position for those interested in a part-time role in law enforcement or those looking for a stepping stone into Full-Time positions. Additional information can be found at http://publicsafety.westchestergov.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=137&Itemid=2056
To attend a recruitment meeting or receive an application, call 914-864-7714 or email: psef@westchestergov.com
ONLY HIGHLY QUALIFIED APPLICANTS NEED APPLY.

Yeah I agree with the above post. Seems like they just tweaked the Impala with some PO input. When I saw the radio placement, I was wondering how easy it would be to slip your elbow off and hit the emergency button or change channels.
I think they could've also make it more aggressive looking like the charger.
Overall, I was't wowed by the new car but its better than its parent.

Seems a bit tight on the inside but they integrated a lot of stuff inc the radar detector.

Reports are coming in stating Schuler had a BAC of .19 and marijuana in her system.

Are they the ones that float around in the Charger marked SPCA or is that a legit car?Thats the legit Westchester car. You've probably never seen the Yonkers guys. I know I havent.
-
AG Cuomo basically said these guys re-instated the Yonkers SPCA so they could carry badges and guns and they have never responded to a cruelty call in Yonkers. The City said they looked "shady" and Westchester SPCA said they handle all the calls in Yonkers. Even the city run Yonkers Animal Shelter didnt call them.
Surprisingly, this Sean Collins guy is the same guy running the New York State Peace Officers Benevolent Association (www.nyspoba.com) and they even hired former Greenburgh cop Erik Ward (dominatrix case) as a SPCA officer.

Doesn't home insurance cover their loss?

I was watching news12 on Friday when they reported on the Cortlandt jeweler arrested for killing his wife.
A uniformed officer escorted the guy out of what appeared to be either the northern command of the WCPD or Cortlandt Town Hall. Can anyone confirm if this was the case and what agency that officer was from? Definitely wasn't State or County Police. I doubt it was Corrections but it may have been. Just curious if perhaps it was a Town Constable or something.

i dont understand the need for this. why doesnt valhalla fire just cover this area?

With over $1,000 in accessories, this brings the price well under book value.

It would make sense to fold the villages into town PDs. but from an officer's perspective, the opportunities with the County PD are greater:
- faster promotions and advancements
- more specialized teams
- exposure to various facets of the county, from parks to social services to airport.
- larger dept, better support
