...INCREASINGLY OPPRESSIVE WEATHER EXPECTED THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE WEEK...

HEAT AND HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL GRADUALLY INCREASE THIS WEEK AS A STRONG UPPER LEVEL RIDGE DRIFTS EASTWARD TO THE SEABOARD. THIS AFTERNOON WE WILL SEE THE MERCURY CLIMB AGAIN TO THE 90 DEGREE PLUS MARK IN THE METRO AREA WITH 85 TO AROUND 90 ELSEWHERE. ALTHOUGH THIS IS HOT...OUR HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL BE LOW ENOUGH TO KEEP HEAT INDICES IN THE 90S THIS AFTERNOON. HOWEVER...DURING MONDAY...BOTH HEAT AND HUMIDITY LEVELS WILL BE HIGHER. AS SUCH...IN THE NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY METRO AREA...THE HEAT INDEX IS EXPECTED TO REACH THE 100 DEGREE MARK DURING THE AFTERNOON WITH THE REST OF THE AREA GENERALLY SEEING VALUES BETWEEN 90 AND 95 DEGREES.

TUESDAY AND WEDNESDAY ARE GOING TO BE OPPRESSIVELY HOT AND HUMID AS THE UPPER LEVEL RIDGE MOVES INTO OUR REGION. AT THIS TIME WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE ACTUAL TEMPERATURE TO CLIMB TO AROUND 100 DEGREES OR SO IN THE NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY METRO AREA DURING THE AFTERNOON WITH THE REST OF THE REGION SEEING VALUES BETWEEN 95 AND NEARLY 100. WITH THE ELEVATED HUMIDITY LEVELS ALSO IN PLAY AT THAT TIME...THE HEAT INDEX WILL BECOME DANGEROUSLY HIGH. VALUES OF BETWEEN 105 AND 115 DEGREES ARE EXPECTED IN THE NEW YORK AND NEW JERSEY METRO AREA. ELSEWHERE... VALUES WILL LIKELY REACH BETWEEN 100 TO 107...ALTHOUGH SHORE LOCATIONS WILL SEE SLIGHTLY LOWER VALUES.

RESIDENTS WILL NEED TO EXERCISE APPROPRIATE CAUTION DURING THIS HEAT WAVE WHICH MAY LAST THROUGH THURSDAY. COMMON SENSE SAFETY TIPS INCLUDE... WEARING LIGHTWEIGHT LIGHT COLORED CLOTHING AND AVOIDING ANY STRENUOUS ACTIVITIES...ESPECIALLY DURING THE HOTTEST PART OF THE DAY. YOU SHOULD DRINK PLENTY OF WATER AND OTHER NON ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES.

MAKE PLANS TO CHECK ON THOSE MOST SUSCEPTIBLE TO THE HEAT SUCH AS THE ELDERLY AND VERY YOUNG. PETS WILL ALSO NEED YOUR SPECIAL ATTENTION DURING THIS TIME.

Had a real bad squall in the Route 34 area of Orange and Derby in Western New Haven County (1/2 mile south of my house). Multipple trees down and it was a mess, though at my house there was nothing except heavy rain.

Yea--my job--do something for us--yea right--oh wait--they did give us A/C in the trucks BUT, company policy prohibits any un necessary idling of any vehicle. Heaven forbid we go back to the shop for lunch to cool off either. Workin 14 hour days is no help either. Yes I know--don't like it--go else where--well it is not for the lack of trying!!!!
