He should be hired immediately! s*** Ive seen 50 yr old guys run frigging circles around younger guys who want to do nothing but sit and play with their laptops all friggin day and then complain when they have to mop the floor! Some of them are lucky if they can even throw a 24' up by themselves! Age to me doesn't mean s*** anymore on our Job! If he's in good enough shape to do the Job and is willing to, which he seems to be by Volunteering to do it then give it to him! WTF!

This is a very sad situation thoughts and prayers to all those affected especially Officer Guerra. It is unreal on the amiunt of people I have heard over the last few days say things such as he was a cop why was he in a fire, and my answer was simple, His job was to PROTECT AND SERVE in any way possible. Rest In Peace

it is sad that there has to be a thread about proper etiquette at Firefighter Funerals, members who have been in for 20 years or 2 years you think they would be able to keep it professional for a few hours. We recently buried one of our own senior members and I was surprised at the amount of guys who showed up without ties, wrong insignia, no gloves or no mourning bands. If you cant wear the proper uniform then wear a suit instead. Think to yourself would the guy your honoring show up to your funeral with his uniform all jacked up.

There's a time and place for everything, especially in a world full of camera phones and the internet, and you don't have to be a delusional vollie to figure that out.

I think its got a psychological effect... "Expedite", "Have them step it up" maybe gives the crew on scene some "comfort" that the enroute unit(s) know they have an uncomfortable or more serious situation on their hands... whether those enroute maintain the same speed or not... that's also a different story. In my head at least I sort of see it as emergency services communicating with each other through a different "lingo" to get their views of the situation across without using language that may further upset patients or civilians around the incident.

im sorry but i think some of you are missing the picture here. A Parade is for the community. A celebration of whatever it may be. Celebrating America or troops coming home or something within the community. Its very much American as apple pie. When i hear the "should have used the time for training or done this or done that or the rig should be covering." As long as he dept has resources to cover, go to the parade. Let the people enjoy a weekend and see firetrucks, police cars and Ambulances and bands. I just don't get it. Next parades will be banned because they are too patriotic according to the trend the country is on. Some of you need to get a grip and enjoy life.
