WOW! Very nice to have.

It looks like they have a real good setup going for themselves up there.

Nice rigs, and a beautiful Corps headquarters, too. Plus they also have a cool website!

This trailer was purchased with funds from a grant from NYS Senator William J. Larkin. Senator Larkin secured the funds for us last year after the need for this type of unit was discussed with him. A few years ago he also secured funding for EMS turnout gear for 22 of our members along with John Deere Gator set for patient transport and for a security system for our HQ to protect our assets.

THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN SENATOR LARKIN!

Nice unit...I've come to find Chester as being forward thinkers and a progressive agency. I know that there were and still are several persons in some Westchester agencies taht have been trying to get 1 or 2 of these spread out across the area and in some of the more busier agencies that have high potential for a multi-casualty/patient incidents.

Nice unit...hope you guys never have to use it!

Aren't there already a couple of these types of trailers established in Westchester and staged at DES in Valhalla (and one at the airport)?

Chris...I was speaking more on a local level to get things a bit more efficiently if needed and for staging at large events in the area as well.

We also just added a large (cascade) size O2 bottle, some quartz halogen scene lights and two (2) Mass Casualty Oxygen Manifolds which gives us the capability of giving oxygen to up to 16 patients at the same time.

Trauma..nice looking and well thought out.

If you get the chance to look into them, I highly recommend either Israeli Trauma or H bandages also. They are worth their weight in gold in terms of ease of application and speed compared to traditional dressing application. Works well for Triage personnel if they encounter a severe bleed and also work very very well in conjuction with hemostatics. Case of each size also will hold up well being they are individually sealed if they sit on the shelf (hopefully for a long time).

How are you guys handling expiration of equipment? Will you be rotating supplied through the trailer or is there money for the replacement schedule?

Dan,

WHO WOULD HAVE THOUGHT.........................!!!!! LOL!

NY10570,

There are some items that do have expiration dates. They will be replaced as they expire. I am happy that we have this trailer, but I really hope we never have to use it.

Great job with the trailer Doug and of course we all hope that it never has to be used. I don't work much in OCEMS now, but is there any plan of cooperation for different agencies providing different specialized equipment to regions? I know that on the fire side we have departments that house haz-mat trailers, all terrain vehicles, foam capabilities, cold water rescue, etc. and they are basically for use within the area. It's a cheaper way to provide service without undue duplication and it fosters cooperation between agencies.

It's nice to see that some of the volunteer EMS services in the county are starting to progress toward interagency cooperation and communication. It's definitely been a long time coming and it had to be pretty tough to push cooperation from the grass roots. Nothing but good can come from this progress (even if I don't get to meet with your ambulance anymore :( ).
