Which Departments still page over 33.96? and does anyone know why they use 33.96 as opposed to 46.26 like most of the rest of the area?

Departments use 33.96 because years ago. All departments were to use 33.96 for dispatch, and 46.26 for fire operations etc. Only a few departments were actually on it. I believe Pelham, Pound Ridge,Millwood and perhaps Portchester were among a few. I don't know who still uses it now.

New Rochelle, Town of Mamaroneck are those who I know use 33.96 for dispatching down here in the South.

Yes. Most of those dispatched on 33.96 will simultaneously be dispatched on 46.26 and/or 46.06.

Back in the late 70's early 80's, a decision was made to put all departments adding voice / alert pagers to be on 33.96 because there already was way too much traffic on 46.26.

My personal feeling is there is still too much traffic on 46.26 and thankfully, the new trunked system is taking a big chunk off of that band.

Nice..... Go Check the first post on this thread (NYRangers30)

If I read it correctly this is his first post ever on EMTBravo. Joined last month and finally got the nerve to jump into the fray and ask a question. He was most likely not around when "We discussed this before".

Remember (as has been discussed before) Not everyone has been around forever and has 2500 posts and seen all previous posts.

Way to make him feel like part of the team...........

Welcome NYRangers30. It aint all bad here.

OK Im done. Having a bad day.

Just to add....

Peekskill FD Station Alerts was on 33.96 for a few years,

then switched over to our own UHF 453.225

Perhaps you didn't notice - but I answered his/her question.
