Likely Con-Ed strike

9 posts in this topic

I'm surprised no one has said anything about the Likely Con-Ed strike.

Anyone (admit to) remember(ing) the last one? I guess it was 25 years ago and lasted 9 weeks. Any contingencies being put in place around here? Or just more coffee and donuts for those 'wires down' calls?

Let's ALL hope there is NO strike.

The last one was a fiasco, the union came back after being out 9 weeks, for practically the same package they rejected!

Wires down call? ...you can assume that you will sit on them a while, especially if it's a widespread storm with a lot of damage....

I'll bet the Managers and Supervisors will be monitoring The Weather Channel all weekend....And while most employee's will be doing a rain dance, no matter what happens, we'll end up paying more in the end.

The labor contract expired at 11:59 PM (06/28) and talks continued past the midnight deadline. Apparently Governor Patterson intervened and parties have agreed there will be a 72 hour "cooling-off" period, where contract negotiations will continue.

This means "normal" operations 'till Tuesday night.

The contract proposal was an insult. I can't blame them for wanting to strike.

This morning around 0730 I was sitting here reading this thread and my power went out! No joke. It was restored by 10am, but pretty funny timing!
