Tunnel to Towers Run

10 posts in this topic

Yesterday was the Annual Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Run.

Stephen, a member of Squad Co. 1, ran through the tunnel on 9/11 and never returned, along with 342 other brothers.

Members of the Elmsford Fire Dept ran in the event in memory of Lt. Andy Fredericks, Squad Co. 18, our first seminar speaker.

With FDNY Firefighters lining the tunnel exit, with 343 American flags and 343 banner/photos of all the fallen brothers. The FDNY Emerald Society Pipe Band performing. FDNY rigs sounding air horns and sirens. Big crowds cheering the runners along the way.

It is truly an inspiring event.

If you have never participated, you should really consider it.

I didn't get the opportunity to go this year, but the past two years I have, and I had a great time.

It was a great run, just way to many people trying to run through that tunnel.

In your gear?

If you're going to do something, do it properly :D

(and I have a 'mad bastard' reputation to live down to)

Every year somebody says that, last year there were probably 180 London Brigade FFs, we wondered what the hell would happen if London caught fire...
