I just found these in some papers of mine and added them to our website but I figured I would share a few with the group here at EMTBRAVO

The Wassaic Firehouse, water came up about another foot after these photos.

We got FEMA $$$ and had contractors come and remove the damage and remove the mold and replace all the wallcoverings as needed. One hell of a way to get rid of that awful dark paneling in the main hall.

Where did you all store the trucks during the flooding?

We took the vehicles to the West side of Town until the water went down, it went down pretty quickly that afternoon; of course we had several units operating at other locations on pump outs and etc. so there really wasn't any problem with idle vehicles.

We did have to rescue a handicapped occupant right across the street from the firehouse with the Asst. Chief's John Deere tractor equipped with a bucket, we placed the gentleman is a rescue litter and put him across the hood of the tractor with his wife in the bucket and took them to safety, that was quite a trip for sure, not one I wish to do anytime soon.

Here is a picture at the time we were getting them out, you can see the tractor and one of our members in a cold water rescue suit.

Reason for the rapid rise of the water was there was a backup of water upstream; add the heavy rain and debris it became to much and washed out a small bridge and culvert causing the water to come rapidly.

Do you have any more pictures of that rescue? It sounds pretty interesting.

No sad to say just the one posted, it was setup pretty quickly and went very smooth, I had the luxury of being one of the members holding the litter on the tractor.
