White Plains EMS/Transcare questions

8 posts in this topic

So how many rigs cover White Plains? BLS/ALS?

How are they dispatched?

Where else in Westchester does Transcare provide 911 service to?

If I remember correctly there are fulltime Ambulance 1 and 2, with Ambulance 3 being a BLS between something like 7a to 7p. Transcare will send 'transport buses' into the city as call volume allows. TransCare also carries New Rochelle with similar staffing levels.

The White Plains buses are dispatched by the PD if you listen, you'll hear them call amb 1, 2, etc.

They also have rigs in New Rochelle and another rig is based out of Westchester Med Ctr. and handles county facility calls. The med ctr units also provide the medic for Sleepy Hollow.

TC Westchester also provides the medics for Mount Pleasant (of which Sleepy Hollow is a part and thus is provided with ALS coverage since they "bought into" the system back in 2000ish). During the day I believe they provide 2 medic flycars for the Town and a BLS bus for the medical center (which also covers some outside facilities like WestHelp), and then the ambulance becomes ALS at night and the second flycar goes out of service.
