The Booster Line - Keep it or Ditch it?

33 posts in this topic

All tools have a place, if they are used correctly. The problem with the booster line can be summed up in one word: "Charlston"

I hate to have to dumb down the fire service, but it appears that we have less issues when we do.

I was waiting to see how long it would be before that was brought up.....

It looks like the majority of posters here all agree...the booster is useful in limited scenarios, mostly restricted to light duty apparatus.

As Bnechis alluded to the incident in Charleston, IMO booster lines are MURPHY'S LAW waiting to happen on any front line apparatus. If it is not there, there is no chance that another Charleston can happen. If it is there, eventually it will be used for the WRONG PURPOSE at the WRONG TIME.

DITCH IT NOW!!!!!

I agree with most. It has its place, certain Dept's. benefit more from this and also as said firefighters have to know when to use it AND DEFINITELY NOT FOR AN INTERIOR ATTACK LINE!
