Found on the side of the Road

90 posts in this topic

Ok lets see if we can get as many photos in this topic as we can. If you seen in on the side of the road not in service then shoot it and post it here. I will start with this one.

Ok found this sitting on the side of the road in Westfall Pa Pike Co. It is a former Indianapolis, Indiana unit it has on the door R111. It is just rusting away and the guy who ownes it is looking to sell it oversea's. After some checking I found that this was in service with Ladder 20 and later some spare duty time.

Found this one sitting in a lot in Sussex Co. NJ in Lafayette Twsp. on Rt-15 North. I have no info and I know that the door patches are fake to that rig as it never was an FDNY engine.

I have seen that around the area in Hudson. To be specific, the Wal-Mart PChops Plaza there.

After a road trip yesterday, I realized I had a bunch of roadside relics, fire apparatus either reused for something else, or left to rot.

First up is a Continental Compac. I found it working on a construction site in Poughkeepsie just south of the train station in October, 2009. It looks like it was originally slime yellow, but i was unable to ask anyone to look for more info on it.

This 1980 Hahn from Glastonbury, CT I found in Bedford Hills. I have been told (on another board) that this was in a program called Mutual Aid Americas, that sends fire apparatus and equipment to departments in South America

The next three I found in Ulster County as well, all in the same location. Ex- North Attleborough 1970 ALF. Originally an Aero Chief 90, it was refurbished in 1985 and a 100' straight stick replaced the boom
